Literally everything Trump 1 seems quaint to Trump 2.
The sad part of this is that we the people are both too concerned with keeping what we have and placing too much faith in the next election to see that acting decisively right now is probably the only way to dial this back.

Trump and Putin seek only to isolate US and EU. This rhetoric plays into their hands and is a path to war. Sane factions in EU and US need an unrelenting campaign to resist and defy this isolation. Take the hits but refuse to be reshaped into the world Trump and Putin would see made.

The Democratic Party as equal and opposite reaction to MAGA needs to change. Trump's radical agenda creates an opportunity in the chaos.. to bridge the gap, creating a strong center.
The country is vulnerable by design to extremes encroaching on the middle, which is what makes Trump possible.

Businesses will acquiesce in the end for tariff relief bought with fealty when their livelihood sees no other way. Many will happily forgo any illegal perks should that change.
If the courts take the lead and congressional support buoyed by the people is evident then maybe. MSM must tell the story.

That message was as likely intended to placate the US businesses (many in his own base) hit extremely hard by Canadian retribution and complaining daily to Trump.
They see the Art of the Deal at work which keeps them off the phone. But, Canada isn't F'n around. Trump will reprise blowhard soon.
