One problem with so many leaders today is that they don't lead. They base their policies & politics on voter perceptions- even if those perceptions are based on misinformation or fear campaigns- because it's "what voters want". It doesn't occur to them to actually lead by showing voters another way

Well they're fucking wrong and it's high time someone addressed that

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Curtis taking the mantle of scouser in the team seriously

The ALP states it values solidarity above all else. There is a party line, walk it. This means it values solidarity above morality seemingly as a matter of principle. Ultimately then you get a large unthinking, unfeeling bloc that agrees with itself while the world rots around it

a poor pegging lubber

We stood on principle. Labor won in a world of fear. Here’s what I see from here. greenagenda.org.au/2025/05/from...

Oh yeah nice one kid hook that hope for humanity right into my veins

lol. lmao.

If you want to understand why progressive people don't believe in the Labor Party anymore, here's a prime example. Julian isn't interested in justice, he's interested in being comfortable. Equating spreading race hate with opposing genocide should be unforgivable. Centrism is a brain disease.

On a day the Israeli government announces horrific new plans to ethnically cleanse Gaza, Labor MPs are bragging about how their “centrist” position won them votes.

Show me you don't understand Star Wars without telling me. Good luck.

If you want a sense of how stupid the media reporting on the Greens is going to get post-Bandt, look at this morning’s AM on the ABC. Their expert was a transphobe kicked out of the party lmao

Personal opinion and all that, but I think a parliament without Adam Bandt, Max Chandler-Mather, Zoe Daniel, and potentially, Monique Ryan and Jacqui Lambie will be a much worse parliament indeed. Pretty devastating election in many respects.

I see the political class - corporate media operatives and their mates in the ruling parties - are excitedly seizing on election results in Melbourne to push their agenda of demonising anyone who stands against Israelis committing genocide in Palestine.

strike another person from the parliament who spoke against genocide. Big victory for bloodthirsty zionism being delivered by the Albanese govt.

Israeli soldiers have filmed themselves blowing up a building in Gaza for a ‘gender reveal’, having rigged it with explosives that give off blue smoke to indicate a fetus is male.

Time for a reelected progressive government with a huge mandate to maybe do...something?

They’ve agreed to annex Gaza officially and entirely, instead of simply occupying, and as such conclude their genocidal ethnic cleansing plan and this is how you report it?

This election is the result of a conservative strategy, from media to preferences, to destroy the Greens for daring to stand against genocide—it didn’t work. Instead, it just about destroyed the Liberals, who should have been focused on Labor, you know, the actual government.

“did you see what I saw? Humility. Respect. Mateship. Australian values.” No. I saw class solidarity between powerful white males. I saw Albanese condescendingly scold people who worked for his win, for free. I saw Dutton try to win back the anzackery vote after aligning with nazis over veterans.

A single 25kg bag of flour now costs $500 in Gaza. Not because of scarcity—but because the border is closed. This isn’t a famine. It’s forced starvation. We’re not asking for aid. We’re asking to open the border. We’re hungry. Our children are hungry.

Israel is now bombing Syrian military sites around Damascus.

this is art, thank you peter dutton

Three years I ago I thought a Labor majority meant serious progressive reform. This morning I think a Labor majority means another three years of minimalist government. Sure hope I’m wrong.

Look, I'm so happy that Dutton is gone and it's a Labor win rather than the LNP. But, to see Labor win such a majority and people turn their backs on the Greens and others pushing for *genuine* progress for social and environmental justice makes me very sad. Labor are neoliberal light. #AusVotes25

It’s amazing how roundly progressives are criticised for their echo chambers and yet it appears conservatives would rather completely implode than heed an opinion that doesn’t affirm their world view.

"Business chiefs called on Labor to prioritise a productivity agenda which included unwinding or relaxing its industrial relations agenda from the first term, overhauling the tax system and removing regulatory barriers." Seriously. Get stuffed.

📽️ #MovieChallenge 2025 - Week 1 I watched Whisper of the Heart, a very sweet and earnest coming of age/first love story that also captured the magic in day to day life.

Some irony that Peter Dutton no longer has a Voice to parliament #auspol

One thing Dutton got wrong is that Australians prefer their racism silent and structural.

As usual disappointed that ABC just lets LNP spew lies & hatred about The Greens without challenge! #BinNight #auspol

just leave it be! we got a perfect story. it's like wanting a sequel to Nope. or more Back to the Future movies. let's just enjoy the miracle we got.

Relieved Dutton’s out? Handy reminder: Albanese’s Labor government is, at best, complacent, at worst, complicit in Israel’s genocide. Gaza is being bombed, starved, ethnically cleansed. Voting out morally bankrupt leaders isn’t enough—we must still hold power to account for the most vulnerable.

Obsessed with this idea that a slab of bread smeared with cheese and cured meats magically becomes nutritionally different because you made it yourself.

MURDOCH LOST ANOTHER AUSTRALIAN ELECTION

Just got a message from a mate: “Can Peter Dutton get a ‘Goodbye From Country’?” 😂

his welfare policies and NDIS cuts literally hold millions of us back everyday. shameless liar.

Anyway I think we can all agree the clear lesson is Dutton was simply too woke to keep his seat

PK calling Labor "the progressive side of politics" is everything wrong with legacy media & is actively holding Australia back from genuine progress. #AusVotez

loving this near 20 year trend of Liberal Party leaders losing their own seats #BinNight

Drive it like you stole it, stop fucking around, deal with climate change, poverty, and deal with inequality to pay for it. Deal with industry transition, deal with education costs, accept that large investments in ourselves today pay for more than themselves in the future. And dental in Medicare

This is truly a slaughter of the Libs. Thought Labor would win, maybe get a majority. But cripes. Then you see James McGrath in the ABC and you understand completely why the LNP are so shite

How can Labour defeat a man whose biggest idea has been an abject failure; who endorsed the Truss Budget; and who has supported one of the most toxic political figures the western world has seen for decades? It's a real puzzle.

I wrote about being sick of rich people tv www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

The year is 2032 and James McGrath is still saying; “it’s too early to speculate on the 2025 election.” 🤦‍♀️ #AusVotes
