You can join me and go waaaaay back in time by reading Eve: How the Female Body Drove 200 Million Years of Human Evolution by @catbohannon.bsky.social or back to the internment of Japanese citizens during WW2 and read Citizen 13660 by Miné Okubo. Both are great non-fiction.

Oh I just had to email my sister in law who lives in Pasadena and is a Vroman's fan. I hope she can join you - what a great conversation it will be!

What matters is not the size in any given spot but that it's happening from the Gulf of Mexico to the peak of Denali!

I remember when Target expanded to NJ -stores always called out community orgs they helped with donations. I'm reading Percival Everett's Assumption & across from the dedication page is a thanks to 5 organizations that helped make the publication possible, including Target. They lost their way.

Thanks for your work in person! I'm writing postcards to Wisconsin voters through Postcards to Swing States. We will get it done together.

Today -
1) My family (always)
2) Spelman College (board meeting this weekend)
3) Electing a new member for Soho Rep where I'm on the board
4) The book To Say Nothing of the Dog
5) The snowy day ease of 11:15 zoom church (Trinity NYC) that grabs my heart with the sermon.

This morning's sermon included a reference to the NFL practice of chaos when they come to town for the Super Bowl. The money that gets spent on the event versus what else it could do...

So glad you shared this link. I had to give my ticket away. My friend loved the program and promises to give me my copy of Cleavage as soon as she finishes it

@amykknapp.bsky.social and @emilyg-k.bsky.social good to see you both here. Teen Vogue is a smart follow, even for those of us in our 6th decade. Let's get DAK in on the blue sky action.

My NC niece is a huge fan of Emily Henry and Book Lovers was a present from her. As a New Yorker I especially loved the coming to the city back stories, the fish out of water vignettes and the shout outs to my favorite book stores.

I read it because of a recommendation from #McNallyJackson when I needed to laugh (and THAT was this summer.) The satire of bad British romance novels could have been off putting but I thought it was funny and worth the time. Holds up well 9 decades later. Maybe I'll try the movie...

I adored The Bone People even though it tore me apart. I can still feel the tears (and snot) running down my face 20+ years later.

And that the ONLY solution they mention is to notify parents, not to change their behavior - to pause and talk to a person, to look at a person, to ask her age, to think.

I live in Soho and walk past it a few times a week, always someone taking a photo. It's good to see that not every Manhattan architecture fan is at the Ghostbusters Firehouse!

This is terrific news for both authors. Can Yale use some of its resources to give each author the full $25,000 prize instead of making them split it?

What a lovely nest and story for what looks like a hard time. Which of the Little House books is it? Some stories provide a chance to "talk back" and some are still good many decades on. Is that the book where Jack is lost in the river crossing? Truly a great dog.

I host Thanksgiving every year and bake a lovely pumpkin pie. I always wish my mom were here for advice (her classic saying was, "use your own good judgement." Enjoy that pie and your memories of Gramma.
