Here's me. 'Nazi oligarchs have seized treasury control of an authoritarian White House and everyone seems kinda chill about it'

Do I have this right? There was a conversation bw 2 women, Antoinette Lattouf & ABC's Elizabeth Green - nobody else was present - and now a group of men higher up the ABC cherry tree are telling the women they're both mistaken in what was said, even though nobody else was there but the 2 women?

TOMORROW- Friday, February 28th is BLACKOUT FRIDAY! If you believe we are in danger of losing our Democracy forever, FIGHT BACK! Let's make our voices heard in numbers too big to ignore. JOIN US if you've had it with Comrade Krasnov. 🤬 🇷🇺 #24HourEconomicBlackout

Word of the Day is ‘ingordigiousness’ (18th century): extreme greed at the expense of principles.

In a small trial, nearly half of pancreatic cancer patients who received an mRNA vaccine had no signs of relapse after three years. Dr. Vinod Balachandran from @mskcancercenter.bsky.social joins us to discuss the results and what they could mean for cancer treatment.

It is the job of the artist to provoke, to be controversial, to be outspoken, to get us to think. Isn't that one of the main points of art? If we start cancelling every artist because they "create debate" then who the hell are we as a society? Craven cowards. www.theguardian.com/artanddesign...

Love this! #auspol

Geoffrey Robertson on whether Sam Kerr’s case should have gone to trial at all. Good read. www.smh.com.au/world/europe...

i feel like the rando DOGE teens with access to all of the US government systems as a vector for attacks (hackers, espionage) is still probably not getting enough attention. www.theregister.com/...

This is how the world views the US. Australia calling out fascism, then adding that "Trump is a disaster for humanity and he belongs behind bars, not the oval office."

Warning. My @smh @theage cartoon.

I know all of us who understand what is happening are experiencing mental health challenges because of that. The only message of comfort I can offer to this community of readers is this: you are correct. What you think is happening is really happening, and is just as concerning as you think it is.

Dear progressive Americans, Perhaps I am missing something, perhaps you have plans, if so, forgive this post. If not…what the flying f is wrong with you? Where are you? Handfuls outside major institutions, huffing & puffing in Congress, a few thousand in LA? Get in the streets. Howl! Shriek! FFS!

Opinion | The ABC has indicated it will argue Lattouf has not proved there is such a thing as a “Lebanese, Arab or Middle-Eastern race". The optics are devastating, writes @marquelawyers.bsky.social Read it here: www.crikey.com.au/2025/02/0...

The ABC (my employer) needs to stop defending this case against Lattouf and settle - including an apology and reinstatement. They should not have taken her off air in such a manner. Her colleagues stand with her.

Oh Canada! 🇨🇦

This morning’s sunshine has reminded me of the word ‘philocaly’: a love of beauty, even in the smallest things.

Richard D. Wolff is an American economist and professor emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is known for his critiques of economic inequality and his advocacy for worker cooperatives as a way to empower individuals and address systemic issues within the economy. #auspol #BeAware

“Hello, is this Google? It’s the President of Ireland calling. We’ve decided to rename some lands in the world and I’ll be needing you to change your maps if that’s alright…”

Psst... wolves are essential. Pass it on 🐺

I’ve told my adult kids that this is something they should fight for in their lifetime. And I could offer them no good explanation as to why it’s not already the case. Dental health has so many knock-on general health consequences.

oh my gosh if you haven't been to a library you have to go! Go now! People who work in libraries are nice. And the things to do! Classes, workshops, books upon books, to read for the first time, or love all over again. And people of all ages who have time to chat. Get thee to a library! 📚

Here's me. 'How did America Nazi this coming?'

It is illegal and unconstitutional for ANYONE to be detained without legal process. Even if there's legal cause to deport, you CANNOT just arrest people without a warrant - and detain them without appearing before a judge. This will be challenged - and freedom will prevail.

Growing up in the 70s and 80s where it’s all “never again” and “we need to learn from history” and “just be kind” and “racism is bad” then living another 50 years only to find ourselves back in the 1930s is like living in the Twilight Zone or Black Mirror.

Almost zero tolerance. My @smh @theage cartoon.

Absolutely!

If I could tell my young self one thing I would say the poodle mullet is not for you. But if I could do one more I’d say change & victories are not cemented victories. Never assume you won’t need to fight again … for maternal care, child labour laws, for women’s rights, for everything.

Shikata ga nai is a Japanese cultural concept that implies that a problem exists and to get on with doing what can be done. Believed to have Buddhist origins, it's used in negative situations where there's no other choice but to cope with tragedy. And we are entering into one.

What’s going on in the USA is not normal. We need a collective global effort to defeat fascism & the dark forces of fossil fuel interests, ‘Christian’ nationalists, white supremacists and billionaires on an ego trip. We need to take the gloves off with these people. Our kids lives are at stake.

Presumably the US will learn the lesson from the massive fires in the same way they learnt the lesson from all the mass shootings and implement measures to prevent them

Ann Telnaes, a Washington Post editorial cartoonist who has been with the newspaper for sixteen years, just quit her job after the cartoon below—which depicts Post owner Jeff Bezos and other CEOs bowing to Donald Trump—was spiked. It's another huge blow to the credibility of a once-great newspaper.

News. My @smh cartoon.

My EV is the best car I have ever owned. Its fast, quiet, turns on a dime & it runs on sunshine thanks to the solar panels on our roof. I ain’t never going back.

NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO. Do not — and I repeat — DO NOT — do everything in your power to make sure Vice President Trump sees these memes. EVERYWHERE. Would hate to further strain his relationship with President Musk before they even take office. Especially not during the holidays. 😈😭

A few potential words of the day: Joblijock: a disturber of domestic peace (small children, cantankerous uncles, etc). Yule-hole: the furthest notch in your belt that you need to resort to at Christmas. Confelicity: joy in other people’s happiness. Merry Christmas.
