I’ve got 4 cats and a dog and a whole lotta ink!

Let’s hear more about this fountain pen book and also what pens Reactor is using!

Does that make fpc.ink the ink-Pokédex? 😆 Gym leaderboard?

Their Pride pens are always good.

Scotland, I think? I don't know where the pens are made, though.

If it’s modern and you can take it apart you could be fine. If it’s vintage then I wouldn’t advise it.
If you’ve got a great cap-seal like a TWSBI Eco it’ll be fine.

I hope it wouldn’t. I’ve heard from others that they got Ti pens that worked fine. Mine just didn’t and they ignored a bunch of emails. 🤷🏼♂️
On the other hand, I’ve only heard good things about the Ultem version of the Pulsar.
I’ll stick to recommending Tactile Turn and Karas for that style of pen.

👏🏼 Let people enjoy things. We don’t need to bring other people down for the things they enjoy.

Looks nice, but absolutely don’t let it dry out in your pen. The orange one turned solid on me and was a nightmare to clean. 🙄

After my experience with their Ti Pulsar pen, I wouldn’t buy a Ti pen from them any time soon. Rough, gritty mechanism, sharp edges without refinement, and completely unresponsive CS.
I had the original Ixion in aluminum and brass, and it was fine.

…plus it has pieces sticking out of it like spikes. 😆

That's a beautiful one, for sure. Mine is the larger size, but I do have pretty big hands, so I sometimes make pens look a bit small. 😅

This is the modern version of the Big Red. I really like it, but the price tag is WAY too high (unless you get it on a fire-sale price like I did years back).

Not sure where you’re located, but the US has lots of fountain pen shows that are FULL of fountain pens old and new!

Well, not *visibly* angry, anyway.

Eh. No one here is that angry. We’re all just weary. 😕

(Some people totally do calligraphy with a fountain pen. Not me, but some do.)

NC is run by vicious jerks, and the misery is the point. They know the lines are long and that appointments are nearly impossible to get. The DMV has asked for funding to hire more people, and the State to them to take a hike.
My theory is that it’s all about voter disenchantment.

lol, the FDA insurance companies are listening. Hardly any of us will be able to get vaccines this year.

I need to do that, too. But that takes forever and you have to send off the very documents you need for the Real ID, so I gotta do this first. 🙄

On second thought, not jail. They should have to use the system they instituted at least once a week until they fix it.

If you’re in the US, the place to contact is Kenro Industries. They distribute Aurora and will be able to help you out.

Yep. And then they’d have to deal with the CS for lots of people springing their nibs because so few people understand flex anymore. 😆
comment in response to
post
Nope. Those kinds of nibs can’t really be made any longer. Those old Waterman pens are awesome at flex.
Your best bet is checking out folks like Les (mentioned in this post) who can modify existing nibs to make them flexy.

For real, though, transcribing a book with a fountain pen can be really relaxing. Sometimes I don’t have the spoons for video games, or coming up with my own words for a journal, but I can just write good words that someone else has already written.

I wrote this article about flying with pens. Don’t pay attention to the text below this picture. I don’t know where the “it’s critical to be careful” text even comes from.
Tl;dr: Carry on. Fill them up. Put them in a ziplock bag if you’re really worried. I just leave them in my backpack. 🤷🏼♂️

I made a video about some of my favorite black inks a little while ago.

Tactile Turn is a real place, and they make real good pens. It’s a small shop in Texas where the design, machine, paint, assemble, and ship super high-quality pens.
The only thing they don’t make in-house is the ink.

I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, but I’m real excited to.

That pen is a BAMF. 😆
comment in response to

It’s basically a ballpoint, so it will write more like those than a gel. Gel are always wider at the same tip-size than a bp.
comment in response to

I like the Acroball, and would put it on par with the Jetstream. The inkjoy gets are also really nice, and that Uniball 307 there is awesome, but may need a little extra dry-time.

Well, this just popped up on the fountain pen feed, and you are bound to find plenty of snail-mail folks here!

The Traveler is cool, but you still need to stick it to something. There is a prototype that combines the Writewell desk, penwell, and a book well into sort of a modular suitcase. He had it at the Chicago show, and it was rad.
comment in response to

My favorite is the Craftsman one that has the brass plate on the bottom so I can move it around instead of sticking it down. I have pretty much everything Dan at Goodmadebetter makes, and it’s all great.

And two Penwells! I love those things.

Well, the Platinum 3776 has been in production since 1978. I don’t think it’s going anywhere. It’s just this particular model that is limited. The only thing wrong with it is that people liked it way more than anticipated. 😅

Yep. That’s what it is.
