I think the effectiveness of working class horror comes from knowing the protagonist already exists at a base level of struggle: struggle to pay rent, buy food, settle bills, afford to go the dentist or get a haircut...when you come at horror from that angle it's so much heavier, so much more grim.

I just don't understand what the NYT is trying to accomplish here. "Promise Closer Scrutiny" implies that there was a lack, that childhood vaccines had not been sufficiently studied, and further that the new ACIP is committing to affirmative steps to remedy a dereliction. None of that is true.
