Hello! I think a lot of us are searching for new plans going forward. Our group started primarily for fundraising & getting out the vote, which will be needed again eventually. In the meantime I really recommend signing up for this activism checklist

3/3 Today is a day in history I'm trying very hard to ignore for my mental health. Sign up for Jen's newsletter and checklist today -- it's never spammy -- and I think you will find real positivity over the next four years & beyond.

In order to change their views, they would have to admit that they were wrong for years. And since their views are directly tied to their identity, they would have to reject that identity, which ties into their entire cohort group. This is why it's so hard to get anyone who is in deep to change

2-3 years ago I saw a sw@stika on a car and I about got into an accident. I'm in a blue part of Oregon. Been here since the 70s, have never seen that before.
Oregon has a long history of racism that a lot of people gloss over.

Yay!
I just need to rebuild my following here. We have a great group but we're rather split up at the moment.

Thanks, that means a lot. It took everything in me to have that conversation when all I wanted was for her to magically move far away. But I know that won't solve anything. 💙

The resistance leaders & organizers I'm studying have deep experience. And as I learn more, I'll pass on what I find out here.
I already know that building local community,& safety nets is going to be KEY. And how that looks can be very different in each location. But multiply that by millions.

Got it
I think there's room for a variety of opinions here
When my MAGA neighbor went nuts, people gave advice like call the police, or buy guns & set up cameras, & basically damn her to hell
But after a LOT of reflection, I made space to hear her out. It didn't mean I acquiesced. I set...

Black activists are out there telling us white people that it's now our job to be having conversations with our white friends and family going forward. There's a skill set to learn, and boundaries, & I can't pretend I'm an expert. But I'm researching and listening for now.

... and unexpectedly, she not only apologized later, she helped put my Harris signs back up, bought me a matching sign for our yards that said "let freedom ring" and she's been trying to make amends. We even talked about common ground. Are we friends? No. But the door to changing her mind is opened

I think it's going to be more complicated than that. If a family member, say someone who has abused or gaslight me my entire childhood and is now MAGA, I'm not going to put any energy there.
On threads I did a series where a nice neighbor saw my Harris signs and went crazy, threatening me....
