Yay!! A federal judge in California sided with a coalition of unions, temporarily barring the Office of Personnel Management from ordering federal agencies to terminate probationary workers, stating that the firings were ‘illegal, should be stopped, and rescinded.’

Alaska education funding does not have to be at others’ expense:

I have a selection of bird drawings available, they are originals and very reasonably priced. I'd love you to visit my shop today and see them all... https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheWeeOwlArt #birds 🦉 #OriginalArt #Drawing #Artwork #TraditionalArtist #ShopIndy #GiftIdeas #ArtShop #bsnm

I can’t travel there but I’m more than happy to amplify the message. Keep your hands off our libraries, fascists!

#akleg My letter to the University Board of Regents.

1/2 Fairbanksans gathered yesterday to ask their Congressman what he plans to do to protect their jobs and freedoms during this hostile government takeover. Here's what Nick Begich had to say: #Alaskasky, #NoKing, #Fairbanks

This section is the first time it's been plowed. It's always the last to be ridable. Looking forward to the commute now! Thanks for the assist Sam!

I just want to share, on a personal note, that although I used to LOVE marches & rallies & protests when I was young, I don’t enjoy them now. My back hurts standing, it’s cold, I have kids to manage, I get bored. BUT I’M GOING ANYWAY bc when 3.5% of civil society protests, dictatorships fall.

SHE NEEDS TO HEAR FROM US!

Alaska! Wondering how to join the national day of protest for Presidents' Day? Here's what I've found so far. Anchorage, 2/17 at noon @ the Anchorage Veterans Memorial on the park Strip at I St., marching to Peterson Towers Palmer: 2/17 at noon @ Palmer Quad (org by @ms-united.bsky.social )

Well said. Important to read. www.adn.com/opinions/202...

Bluesky accessibility request yall: PLEASE ALT TEXT your photos, screenshots, attachments, etc. Once you start doing it, it'll become second nature, and you'll notice more if you don't. Exception to Alt text is if you're posting a whole thread that gives the text of the attachment.

Someone at the American Bar Association ate their Wheaties this morning.

You are not powerless, and he is not unstoppable. Look at, and learn from, the funding freeze and how quickly he was forced to surrender.

#NationalDayofProtest in #Juneau: This is President's Day at noon at the Capitol Building! Show up, be loud! This is just the beginning. Spread the word!

Mutual Aid Network of Anchorage (MANA) is Anchorage’s human-powered safety net. We gather and share resources to meet our neighbors’ basic needs while honoring and connecting the communities we serve. Join us — together #WeAreMANA!

We have a growing bench of Alaskan attorneys & adjacent pros on call to act as a “legal ER” for immediate problems that arise in the context of this “situation.” We anticipate overflow from civil rights & immigration groups & I will be trying to triage problems & match them with problem solvers.

"Scott Kendall, the plaintiffs’ Anchorage-based attorney, said his clients brought the lawsuit after learning about the growing trend of families enrolling in correspondence programs to use the funds for private schools — some schools even advertised for it."

West Susitna industrial road would damage much of what makes Alaska, Alaska, writes Chris Poynter in a commentary for @alaskabeacon.com:

I’d like to attempt to explain why so many veterans, especially former officers. seem especially anguished by all that is going on. As cadets and officers, two things were drilled into us: the military was a values-based institution; and officers were apolitical. (1/11)

HAPPENING NOW: A hearing is going on in a lawsuit brought by federal employee unions to block the shutdown of USAID. The plaintiffs have requested a judge to at least temporarily block the shutdown before midnight tonight. Read the complaint: www.democracydocket.com/wp-content/u...

Well, I won't be exactly "bright eyed and bushy-tailed", but I will be here at 10am!

Another attempt by our governor to stifle dissent and hide wrong-doing by government officials and police. No!

I have little reach here so if #alaskasky peeps could share this: Over 6 1/2 hrs of public testimony yesterday 123 people were in favor of increasing public education funding and 14 opposed. 89% in favor. Calls came from across the state. Parents & Biz owners were the majority

Anchorage:

They say, "All politics is local," and that's such a palpable truth in Alaska. I'm working on a report in advance of the 2026 governor's race because it's the most important decision on the horizon for our state. Please help the effort by providing your feedback and sharing. #akleg #alaskasky

Visionary changes can shift the course of what's possible in short order. The Midtown Greenway pre-2000 vs modern day. #BikeSky

A member of the Alaska House majority introduced legislation that would increase public school funding by more than 35%, marking the beginning of what will likely be a lengthy debate on a top priority for the session.

Gov. Dunleavy introduced an election "reform" bill today that goes after voting methods typically favored by non-right wingers: -Ends automatic voter registration -Closes early voting 5 days before the election -Absentee ballots must arrive by election day (currently 10 days after) #akleg

Do not dunk. Do not quote-post. Do not screenshot and repost. They wish to be visibly cruel because it makes them feel big and strong. Block them with the most powerful block button we've had on social media to save yourself the energy, and save others from the garage being spread

Doubt anyone is going to hear me here, but I'm going to try. You might remember a line from that Band of Brothers series: "We're Paratroopers, we're supposed to be surrounded." I led Paratroopers throughout my 20s. Sappers. We go out and clear the way when stuff gets complicated. Keep reading

More imperative than ever: don’t cross picket lines
