Mark, you are so much more cooperative than I would hope for. Help me out, do you not see the seriousness of the retaliation, the controlling very authoritarian behavior here?

George, I struggle all the time with the feeling that there is a way to counteract the rigid thinking, even the self absorbed pathological anger which turns into moving so fast that there is no room for change. We are going to need a quick path here.

on noticing the connection and awareness of each other and on one's willingness to accurately experience the deep fear of seeing what we are up against.

It really helps to be reminded how much it matters to"know" people like you are present to fight alongside at this very very scary moment in America. I only know that our chance of fighting back depends

those who are telling and sustaining the lie that this is an effort to manage USA debt or in any way a righteous act by Trump/musk

I don't think that anyone should in any way indulge those who perpetrated these illegal firings by making the situation more palatable. Everyone has to see what is happening or the lie is enabling

acute psychosis arises. The population that believes in him are either fearful of their future, looking for a savior because they are desperate, or are as viciously angríy as him

Mary, can we form a group of psychologists to meet in some designated way, even as a group on bluesky? Unfortunately many people need something false to believe in and or reality has been objectively flipped on them much like how acute psychosis arises.

That's great and I think you are amazing and I'm so appreciative, but people are starting to adjust to the abuse threats, revenge and illegal actions of hurting people and cutting off funding. it is concerning. What's next?

that it was more about sheer evil, like the bad guys in a James Bond movie.

Sarah, I and so many people around me have known that Trump was in need of a pathological degree of attention, and that he wanted power and that he would attempt to take over the government, but some defence allowed me to fight the idea

which we would see the firing of people and closing down of agencies and work integral to our democracy

It's not that I didn't imagine that actions by the new administration might not be so comprehensive with the goal of becoming more of a dictatorship, it's just that I didn't anticipate the speed

this would happen. With the speed comes an inability to stop the actions as

Honestly, it's all so mixed up..I cannot figure out how there is any" reverence" to a presidency that is vindictive. This is not presidential, and people seem to have forgotten that individual grievances need to be dealt with in a way to bring people to an understanding of each other.

This is so sick

I know I'm replying to myself.. Just appalled at this man who is so happy to strike back at people who disrespect him. This is not going to get easier.

work places now under firing attack from EM/TRUMP. The suggestions were based on how to behave at work etc, when under a dictatorship that threatens disloyal people

This is urgent. Stopping all research or even affecting it is just one more move towards destroying who we are as a country

to express their control. They also need to intimidate you so that their need is not challenged.

Saying this in more basic operational terms, it is psychopathological because the person controlling you and making you feel threatened to fight back is like an addict who needs

the attention of others rather than focusing on the interaction and complex thought. Of course our current president is a master at getting attention. That's part my interpretation of the tour event in NYC last night.. Once I read the book, I will have more to say.

as part of his book tour with David remnick and there's so much inattention related to what's happening and it's affecting our assessment of reality and our emotional responsivity

I am so sad that someone as real and talented as you is having to respond to the currently looking successful take over of what I perceive as the Free world in America. Just listened to Chris Hayes last night in New York City .

Trump is a pathological non thinker and badly needs attention. I don't think any even brilliant democrat could have fought against this attribute of his. His need is so great that his manipulative maneuvers are not known or readily detected to others.

Chris, It was so so great to hear you interact with David Remnick about your book. I'm interested in your thoughts about how inattention impacts our ability to think. It is my thought that therapy is helpful in any context because we are hungry to allow space in our brains.
