I think I have my blog topic for next week now.

There's that aggressive disinterest again. If I didn't have a game to run tomorrow night I'd just have a double shot right now.

Puck solo book when?

Actually took an eye exam and I'm OFFICIALLY partially colorblind now. Yay~

Kou'un They say that koi are symbols of wealth and luck, but with this little bauble for your coin purse, you can make sure of that. It's our latest #DnD magic item.

Prep today today and tomorrow~ Closing up some metagaming loopholes, mostly. I don't really ned to DO anything else so a lot of today will be spent vibing.

I don't think it's overdone at all. If anything, I think it's under explained in systems and settings where those things exist For example, fey are typically vulnerable against cold iron, but hell if I know why without looking up the lore or the mythology (but now I'm curious) 🤣

The creator of the Super Soakers finally got the 73 million in back royalties he was owed by Hasbro because they systematically underpaid him since 1993 and have been stalling on paying him after the Court ruled against Hasbro in 2013. Seriously, put that whole company in the trash and start over.

Random thoughts about the logistics of a cosplay weapon. For no reason.

Finally finished up my essay (can it even be balled that) on social powergaming. Plenty of personal anecdotes, no names. Not that I couldn't, but I give people enough crap for not being constructive, so... #TTRPGu ironbeargames.wordpress.com/2025/02/17/l...

🏠 💍 NEW GAME MASTER MONDAY 🚰 📖 We play FALL IN LOVE LIKE GHOSTS BY THE SEA! Three couples spend a week on their annual trip to Lake Constant. Each harboring old feelings, new fears, and big news Available everywhere you enjoy podcasts!

D&D 2024's Monster Manual doesn't include any way to make custom monsters or any insight into the math behind challenge ratings. I'm not sure why people are surprised. WotC's core goal has always been to edge out 3rd party content they don't profit from. That hasn't changed from 2 years ago. #TTRPG

I'm doing my final edits on my social powergamer topic and... man, it absolutely feels like I'm taking shots at specific people. All I'll say is... if it doesn't apply, then l et it fly. 👀

Somewhat controversial opinion for the #TRPG folks: ...some groups actually benefit from railroading.

School play gets canceled for "inappropriate content". In response students write [REDACTED], their own anti-censorship play skewering the school district, sells out performances, and ultimately takes gold at the Lenaea High School Theatre Festival. www.kqed.org/arts/1397192...

Awake. Meh. Had one of those nights where I ate something I shouldn't have and it made sleep kind of miserable. And people wonder why I insist on cooking for myself despite my visual issues....

We're at a point where it's actually very easy to tell when you hear AI music... Spotting AI art might be an issue for me ('cause, y'know, low vision/blindness) but I know what artifacting sounds like. So when I heard artifacting on Drake's new album, well....

I was today years old when I learned why that Luka trade happened:. unsurprisingly, there's an entitled rich person at the center of it Dallas wouldn't let her move the team or build a casino so she's tanking the team instead.

The more I think about it (because I'm doing a lot of reading this morning), the more I think it's not entirely unreasonable to just not trust peoples' ability to think critically when it comes to media and literary analysis--to the point where I'm just going to stop offering input. It's pointless.

So apparently nightcaps are a great idea. Not only am I not hung over but apparently I was so organized about researching alchemy and esotericism that I expanded my world guide outline. And I don't even remember what time I went to bed. Amazing. 🤣

The hangovers suck but, not for nothing, I kind of like the way my brain just sort of evens out when I'm not sober~

That awkward moment when you're at the bottom of a glass of w hiskey and an hour into an edible and suddenly you have to do something serious. 💀

Going back at my timeline for worldbuilding purposes. I had a very fun idea--and now I'm researching the cultural and historical significance of alchemy.

There's a very specific subsection of the #TTRPG community that believe that running something like Curse of Strahd or Descent into Avernus means that the GM shouldn't have to prep ANYTHING. It always struck me as weird and counterintuitive. I think I understand why now.

All of this. I keep seeing ads for apps that will 'cut your prep in half' and give you thousands of possible adventure storylines on the fly and let you have 'less prep time more play time'. Prep IS play time and you will take it from me over my cold dead DM body.

The next goal is go copy the stuff I already wrote for the city and its factions into the world guide. Thankfully I don't have to rewrite any of it from the beginning. I also need to finish my social powergaming topic today. Gonna need coffee for that one though~ #TTRPG

Pretty satisfied with the rough draft of the New Elysium timeline. I do wan tto go back and fill in some of the pre-1300s medieval era stuff but since a lot of it probably wouldn't be relevant to the city itself, I don't think it needs to be in the world guide. Might change my mind later. #TTRPG

Still not used to getting up early and not napping during the day. But... It's a process. Doing more writing for New Elysium today; I actually don't have to do a lot of prep work for Triumph of the Tusk because anything tspecific to that group is already done for all of Chapter 1~ #TTRPG #PF2e

Im looking back over my New Elysium timeline and I'm stuck. Specifically, I'm brainstorming about what happened to this city during and after World War II...Might have to make up a lot of other events after that, which is 100% fine, but I wonder if there's anything else I SHOULD include...

Over the course of this talk, I was doing a lot of venting and someone said something really profound that's going to stick with me for a while: "Some people would rather be correct than constructive." 🤔

"Stream growth isn't about numbers; it's about real people watching your content." Sitting with an interesting convo I had with someone this morning about something I'm considering. No rason. Just 'cause.

The unique challenge of writing a sort of system agnostic timeline of a speculative fiction setting is researching and remixing historical events. New Elysium is very different from the world I originally wrote, where world governments had access to magic. Though that may come later. #TTRPG

Feels nice tp work on game/prep stuff I actually care about. Started a world guide for New Elysium and an extremely rough timeline, finished my draft of a topic I picked out at the beginning of the week, and worked through the next few Triumph of the Tusk sessions.

Random morning thoughts: I wonder how many writers shy away from writing books or scenes out of concern that some unhinged psycho will try to emulate fiction.
