I mean this in good faith: there is absolutely a tendency to use “democrats or “liberals” to conflate dem voters with dem politicians and progressive liberal types with reactionary centrists. It’s unhelpful, divisive, and misleading.

boy is this an important point. the chickenshit crew can be pushed around

One of the best analysts on democratic socialist politics in the country today says this 👇🏽

Gavi works in close partnership (operationally and financially) with governments around the world to distribute life-saving vaccines to children. Their work has saved nearly 20 million lives since 2000. Kennedy is either misinformed or lying, but either way children will die as a result.

There’s a weird thing on this website and lots of left-wing subcultures, where people love to throw around “liberal” as an insult, but from what I can tell liberals voted overwhelmingly against Cuomo and are rallying behind Zohran now.

Liberal derangement syndrome

it is once again worth noting that the left wing of the party are generally team players while the moderates are going scorched earth on the party’s national brand because a blue city chose a mayor to the left of their district.

It is genuinely crazy to me how unwilling people are to see things this way. All the money in the world can’t make a dent if the people are determined enough. Stop surrendering the party to the current terrible leadership!

Wow — Zohran Mamdani won Hakeem Jeffries (8) and Dan Goldman’s (10) districts Per Armin Thomas of Split Ticket:

lol it can be all of the above. You can also claim Trump also ran on lowering the cost of living - does that make him a socialist?

I think it is extremely important to highlight these examples to counter the pervasive left doomer message that “liberals” side with fascists and will never work with the left. It’s demobilizing!

the solidarity that lander showed with mamdani is exactly how france avoided the worst-case right wing disaster in its most recent parliamentary election. in that case, certain candidates actually dropped out of the race, knowing that splitting the vote would play for the far right

you know who else got proven wrong? the electoral incels who insisted they cannot win against "establishment" endorsements & money

I wish Brandon et al had done this in Chicago. Immediately kept people in the city informed about what they were doing, where trouble lay, and importantly what help they would need from city residents. Then a CONSISTENT communication directly from the 5th floor.

If he wins in November, he's going to need many competent progressive people who wouldn't touch city government with a ten foot poll to join city government. A long bench is needed. that's a lesson from Chicago.

Rise & shine Sens. Gillibrand, Schumer, and Rep. Jeffries! Looking forward to your statements in support of the Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for NYC mayor!

I feel so seen by some of the details of this article. The way it describes how much of the Sanders camp almost infantilizes the right while focusing vitriol on liberals is so accurate. Those on the left who use a better approach, like Mamdani, are going to be our path to victory.

I guess you could say the people who thought Andrew Cuomo ran a better campaign than Zohran Mamdani were sequestered in echo chambers and out of touch with what people offline wanted out of a candidate

The "Vote Blue No Matter Who" bitches can vote Mamdani in November 😌

Lander deserves a ton of respect for his willingness to subordinate his desires to blow up a genuinely evil man's campaign.

no one ever really believed it, its a psy-op to hurt dems. right wingers think it is hilarious, a laugh riot, when they occasionally convince uninformed or low info voters that trump is "anti-war"

unironically one of the biggest positive legacies of Zohran if he loses will be getting these people on board with good policy because he’s convinced them it’s an epic pwning of those freakin’ libs

I’m trying to imagine the reaction - from the media and our pundit class - if a top ally of Joe Biden had attacked the Jewish identity of a Republican candidate. But Islamophobia is normalized in this country.

Yep the hunger strike was really striking at the time. It’s what got first got my notice

Yep, media/civil society CHOOSES to sanewash trump’s insane ramblings as “anti war” even though it’s absurd to anyone paying actual attention. They’ll find a way to cast Harris as weak and uncommitted no matter what she says, war monger one day, a weak dove the next.

well but are they gonna see it

Good morning. We knew the answers to questions like these when the JCPOA was in effect. Again, in a more serious country, unilaterally withdrawing from that agreement would have immediately ended Trump's first presidency & destroyed the GOP's reputation on national security policy for a generation.

NEW: As bombs fell in Tehran, AIPAC got to work—contacting members of Congress to urge them to support Israel's actions. One member got 100 phone calls. It paid off: nearly 80 members released messages of support, including 28 that explicitly used AIPAC's preferred "stand with Israel" language.

antebellum era century chuck schumer who's like "the vicious caning of Senator Sumner is just a distraction from the debate on funding the C&O canal"

"i want to help ensure trump kills literally 20 million people through ending pepfar and usaid"

Unironically they should absolutely say shit like this
