Well this is pretty neat. www.npr.org/2025/04/26/n...

What the thousands of young Americans at Coachella think about genocide 👇👏

Waiting for that one Letterboxd mutual who doesn’t hate Y2K, I know they’re out there

“And even more insidious was the New York Times’ box office coverage of the movie, which stated, ‘Mr. Coogler will then own it, despite not paying for it.’”

Look, the numbers are bad for Tesla, but I think with some hard work and dedication, we can make them worse

How I arrived on Bluesky

our first month at GOOD MOVIE 🥹🥹🥹 thank you to everyone who’s shown up so far excited for month two goodmovie.substack.com

In an executive order, Trump targeted the Smithsonian and the National Museum of African American History & Culture suggesting that it is “divisive” and pedaling “improper ideology.” So, I took a trip back to the museum, and what I saw was a place trying to tell the unvarnished truth about America.

If your loans go into debt collection, remember the onus is on the collector to prove that the loans are legally yours. Often collectors rely on intimidation. No paperwork, no signature, no payment.

At Fimmaker, I spoke to David Cronenberg about how grief rewires both the brain and screenplay structure in relation to his new techno, conspiracy, thriller of sorts, “The Shrouds.” filmmakermagazine.com/130120-inter...

(I have near-endless sympathy for filmmakers as virtuosic and varied as Soderbergh, but still struggling with how BLACK BAG—which I adored—could have possibly cost $50 million.)

Dear Hollywood Reporter, Y'all should not be surprised that Black folks go to movies. In fact, I wrote an entire book about how Hollywood was shocked by this exact phenomenon when it occurred 55 years ago. You might want to look into it, because it's embarrassing when you express surprise at this.

wrote about Charli XCX and of making movies cool again

i often see things that make me say "this is the most Boston thing I have ever seen in my life" but i think this one might have swept them all

it's important this go as viral as the original story for morale purposes if nothing else. despite the image they project these people are NOT unaccountable. consequences CAN be forced. focused anger and outrage MATTERS.

#Filmsky, help! The Brattle, my beloved hometown rep theatre in MA, had to cancel all their weekend programming due to a plumbing emergency. This is a HUGE financial hit. Please consider making a donation to help them instead of the well-endowed university next door: brattlefilm.org/2025/04/17/f...

Certainly studies of ritual and community going on across them, an evanescence of atmosphere and narrative that feels linked to near-ethnographic focus on memory, milieu, and passage —it’s rear projection, cinema in search of lost time or fading light. I might say, distilled, they’re about pastime.

Always a delight to chat it up with @oneblakeminute.bsky.social, especially about the Bard and Kurzel’s fire-and-brimstone take on MACBETH

In the latest ep of THE DECADE PROJECT on @ohmpods.bsky.social #Patreon, I talk with my very talented and insightful friend, @isaacfeldberg.bsky.social, about Justin Kurzel's career-long examination of wounded masculinity and violence through #MACBETH www.patreon.com/posts/126622...

My story breaking this news exclusively was 7K+ words and had almost all of this in it, and more: www.npr.org/2025/04/15/n...

"I wanted to make a story where people would sympathize, or at least empathize, and understand why someone would chop off her toes to fit the shoe." @isaacfeldberg.bsky.social speaks with THE UGLY STEPSISTER writer-director Emilie Blichfeldt

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you are a writer and you are facing a deadline that you're having trouble hitting -- just tell your editor. They can work with you. You are on the same team. Things they can help with. 1. Moving the deadline 2. Contingency planning. 3. Decision making.

I’ve been wanting to write this for a while. So I finally did.

Oh dear you’re going to want to read this. Looks like DOGErs were caught exfiltrating NLRB data, likely on unions, for private (seemingly Elony) use. This is must read. What we’ve all suspected. But now details. www.npr.org/2025/04/15/n...

I interviewed David Cronenberg about mourning rituals and digital approximations of intimacy, both themes of his excellent new film THE SHROUDS.

The ICE officers covering their faces feels like a pretty big tell

BREAKING: Days after a Louisiana judge ruled that the deportation of Mahmoud Khalil can proceed, thousands are holding an emergency Passover Seder at the ICE headquarters in New York City, saying: If you come for one, you face us all.

this is Mohsen Mahdawi, the green card holder who was just arrested by ICE for rendition at his citizenship interview

Harvard will not comply. “No government — regardless of which party is in power — should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue.” — Harvard President Alan M. Garber www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

Nayib Bukele said he won't return a man the U.S. mistakenly deported, while Trump teased sending American citizens to El Salvador's torture prisons.

I'm not kidding that any Dem who wants to run in 2028 should get out ahead of this and loudly say if El Salvador puts American citizens in Trump's gulag we'll fucking invade.

I learned a few things from this piece by Zak Cheney-Rice about the way the American Nazis have been studying and promoting Bukele’s governance style nymag.com/intelligence...

"To me, art is not therapy, and there’s no catharsis. It’s not cathartic to do something like this film, for me." @isaacfeldberg.bsky.social speaks with the singular David Cronenberg about his latest work THE SHROUDS

I interviewed David Cronenberg about mourning rituals and digital approximations of intimacy, both themes of his excellent new film THE SHROUDS.

Basically: I don’t think people understand that 36 hours from now it’s possible that America will have a formalized system for abducting enemies of the regime and stashing them in foreign gulags, indefinitely. www.thebulwark.com/p/bukele-abr...

"Bob Fosse's ALL THAT JAZZ is at once a confession, a self-promotion, a showbiz love letter, an apology, and a middle finger."

Some expanded thoughts on Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza’s WARFARE, perhaps a house divided against itself but still intriguingly tactical in proposing visceral immersion as a corrective to the politics of apathy.

Oh my goodness, Coolidge invited me back for another seminar! I’ll be talking about one of my all-time faves, Vera Chytilová’s inventive and rebellious feminist comedy Daisies! Local movie fans please come out ❤️ coolidge.org/events/semin...
