also, very few americans have a strong attachment to ICE. they aren’t like local police who have long been embedded in the culture and whom many can identify as their neighbors.
this is a fed deportation squad that is two decades old, whose interactions with the public are universally negative.

Seeing shit like this makes me glad I’m getting older and I’m going to die

I think these people are vastly overestimating the amount of time and effort they need to spend "incubating" a thousand utterly mediocre loser men with God complexes and no actual achievements to their names.

"This law and the ruling that upheld it are discriminatory, murderous, and genocidal, and will lead to the death of thousands of children and the unimaginable suffering of countless more" versus "No they won't".

The evil opinion pieces published in these outlets are IMMEDIATELY used as ammunition by the worst people in the legal system. Continuing to give them a platform for their hate blatantly trades trans folks’ lives for clicks

The simple thing here is that the press is comprised of morons.

cannot be stressed enough how much we need leaders like lander and mamdani who understand intimidation tactics for what they are and are willing to put themselves at risk for the city and its people

The self-proclaimed center’s fascination with airing the views and courting the allegiance of the right-wing fringe has effectively destroyed the idea of loyal dissent from the left

aside from generalized resistance to trump, i do think it’s notable how all attendees—from the Liz Cheney people to the Socialist Alternative—were comfortable calling for the complete destruction of ICE and compared its members to the Gestapo and the Klan
just a complete desire to see it eradicated

i guess the tl;dr of this thread is that the joe biden posture of “there are very good republicans” and generalized defense of institutions seems to be pretty close to dead

The right wing looks at the lack of representation of conservatives among faculty and sees it as evidence of bias, or lack of intellectual diversity, rather than selection effects because few people scientists see themselves welcome by the GOP.

The GOP is currently abandoning scientific guidelines on vaccines, and defunding research. This is largely to punish universities and scientists perceived as disconnected from the right. Republicans, the media and even universities themselves blame higher ed - but what if the GOP is the problem?

I won’t support Gavin Newsom ever. He platformed two of the main Nazis responsible for the trans-eradication movement in the US, Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon, and told them he was “completely aligned” with them in trans issues.
I will NEVER support a man who supports my eradication. Take note libs

I would really like someone other than Gavin Newsom to pick the crown out of the gutter. I am pleading for someone else to step up on this

Generative AI should be required to preface every sentence it produces in answer to a query with “most likely, some person or persons once wrote words to the effect that…” and then whatever comes next will be appropriately contextualized

It would also being a good way to drive global energy prices through the roof once Iran deletes Saudi Arabia's coastal oil infrastructure.
It's the stupidest most self-destructive thing Trump could possible do right now...so of course he wants to do it.

Dw, it's no problem. Once I got to the race science bit (they were QTing Will Stancil and failing to land a hit against him, can you imagine), I was doing it to myself.

They're also a complete weirdo with some really esoteric hangups. They've made three separate posts in a row about "retaining walls" and how it's "blasphemy" (exact word) to graffiti them. They're one of the most unpleasant people I've ever come across tbh.

I checked the OP account on Twitter, and they're a race scientist, so this is indeed a delusional fascist projecting.

I honestly expected way more people in positions of power to be indignant at how stupid all of it is. Like, regardless of the politics, to just respond with, “No, fuck that, it’s beneath your office to act that way and I won’t comply out of principle.”
