Stuck in Limerick Junction on a train with doors that won’t open. It’s always Limerick Junction where everything goes wrong: it’s like the Bermuda Triangle of Irish train journeys. #SpeirGorm

I have decided to cancel my show at The Kennedy Center on May 11, 2025 and move it to The Anthem.

For the love of God, stop shopping on Amazon.

NEW: In November, I wrote a Guardian column headlined 'How to Survive the Broligarchy'. Pretty much everything predicted has now come true. What I'm launching today is part handbook, how to protect ourselves? And part manifesto, how to fight back? Please join me. 1/ open.substack.com/pub/broligar...

Watched Croíthe Radacacha (Radical Hearts) last night on @tg4.bsky.social. A fascinating look into the #lesbian couples at the heart of the #IrishRevolution. 🇮🇪 Historians are now finding that #Queer women have often been central in the big fights against oppression & inequality. 🏳️‍🌈 #Suffragettes

The Garryduff Bird This tiny golden bird, thought to be a wren, is one of the true treasures in the Cork Public Museum. It measures just 1.5cm, and is delicately made from gold foil and filigree. It was found during the excavation of a ringfort in north-east Cork by MJ O'Kelly in the 1940s.

Public libraries are amazing! Did you know you can borrow a book from any library in the country and return it to any other library? Did you know they have subscriptions to huge amounts of national and international media that you can access?

Found in a second hand book and immediately transported back decades to a time when you could out a tiger in your tank and a set of glasses in your press if you collected enough #GreenShieldStamps #Speirgorm

On this day in 1984, Anne Lovett, a 15-year-old schoolgirl, died while giving birth near a Marian Grotto in Granard, County Longford. Let's remember her today and how scared she must have been. We failed her. www.thejournal.ie/readme/ann-l...

Jim Acosta announces on air that he's leaving CNN and says, "it is never a good time to bow down to a tyrant ... don't give in to the lies."

Protest won’t be a dominant tactic this time&that’s good.No shade to previous iterations but it’s smart to change tactical repertoires over time.Variety of tactics is critical. Deep organizing(local community building&service based)is needed/happening now. That’s an improvement made from experience.

Four years ago I wrote my inaugural poem The Hill We Climb. Both when I wrote it and performed it, I did so while continuously reflecting on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and Coretta Scott King’s legacy.

I wrote this on eternal life and ceaseless cringe. And how I've no interest in living forever if it's in a world ruled by the weird, brittle freaks we call tech CEOs. www.irishexaminer.com/lifestyle-co...

“Strip away all the spin and misdirection, and the truth is inescapable: Zuckerberg folded like a cheap suit in the face of direct threats from Trump and his lackeys, while barely batting an eye at some sternly worded emails from Biden officials.” www.techdirt.com/2025/01/16/r...

A few years ago, my friend, outspoken climate scientist Peter Kalmus @climatehuman.bsky.social, moved his family out of LA because he could extrapolate from the data. This week the house where he raised his kids burned down. His words for us all (gift link): 🧪 www.nytimes.com/2025/01/10/o...
