Back in the mid-20th century, the FBI could place an individual under surveillance solely for being LGBTQ. This is what enabled the anti-queer witch hunts of the McCarthy era. A lot of what people object to isn’t just outright hate. They object when liberals just refuse to sympathize with Trump voters who are impacted negatively by Trump’s policies. Trump voters aren’t entitled to our sympathy.
