I think it REALLY depends on the game. There's some stuff that I just can't sit through. Some remakes improve upon the original or even just create a vastly different experience.
I would take P3R over P3/FES. But I also really enjoy P3P as much as P3R - even if it is essentially a Visual Novel.

I think the only hurdle part of BG3 is that it's point and click - TRPG playstyle. Otherwise, it's amazing. Even still im finding out new things in the game I missed when first playing it.
