This is naked authoritarianism. It is exactly what happened in Turkey. There is nothing to stop this regime from demanding that faculty be purged too. Everyone must stand up and push back. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/27/u...

"carhartt?" you mean the engine?? dumb ass...

Important history: with major political parties and the legal system zealously backing slavery, abolitionists formed "vigilance committees" that made those laws de facto dead otg. From my piece "Living in the Prologue," about lessons from America's long civil war: www.patreon.com/posts/living...

The same court that killed the Student Loan Forgiveness Program largely based on this, correct?

packing the supreme court should be considered a centrist compromise position at this point

there is no jurisprudence at work here. the republican court believes that anything a republican president is presumptively constitutional, even if it directly violates the unambiguous constitutional text and causes total chaos in law and policy.

I want to hear more things like this. Who are the lawyers who can offer tangible ways that people can fight back?

Okay chat I'll be in Chicago for work in July and have an opportunity to see either Emil Wakim from SNL or a show hosted by Marcella Arguello, thoughts?

from “student debt forgiveness is tyranny” to “the president is allowed to point at someone and have them summarily executed on the spot” in 2 years

sure is cool that six unelected weirdos basically run this country and decide who gets to have rights based almost exclusively on vibes now

Taken as a whole, the Supreme Court has decided we should live in a smaller, crueler country where neighbors should be pitted against each other more frequently.

Guess what?! 5-2-4-1-3-5 Getting that central horizontal line done first will change your life.

Anyone who doesn't do 1-4-2-5-3-1 is a psychopath. Announce yourselves, cowards!

damn, he's good

NEW: GOP lawmakers want to nationalize Medicaid work requirements to offset Trump’s proposed tax cuts. Yet Georgia’s example shows that this could threaten health care for nearly 16 million Americans and cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars. By @savmargaret.bsky.social

🌸 oh it's yuri day, you say 🌸

Not sure what to call a political system that empowers an unelected government employee to talk like this about someone who won a municipal runoff election. In most liberal democracies that person would now be looking for work

everyone famous needs to call her a loser, i think that would help actually

Supreme Court: Anyone, citizen or not, can be disappeared to a concentration camp in a foreign country without trial, warrant, or evidence. Democrats: We have to make sure a muslim doesn't get elected mayor

is “i need access to the medicine that keeps me alive” not a kitchen table issue. is “i need to be able to piss safely” not a kitchen table issue. is “should kids be able to play sports with their friends” not a kitchen table issue. god i hate this framing so much

what actor's expression in a movie will stay with you for the rest of your life?

Fuck The New York Times. Top 10 movies of this century in no order: Inside Man Everything Everywhere All At Once También La Lluvia (Even the Rain) The One I Love Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping Children of Men Arrival Black Panther The Wonder Hereditary

Death before an UGLY AS HELL WATCH tells me I suck at breathing and need to stand up.

fascinating to me that they no longer need to use scare words like “intervention” or “surgeries” theyre comfortable enough just calling it “medical treatment” bc they’ve stigmatized it so much, the bigotry alone is enough of a selling point.

“sports are the domain of cishet dipshits” is the bane of my existence. there is a large and thriving community of queer people who love sports and i would argue it is majority not cishet dudes who are women’s sports fans in particular. you just want to dunk on a hobby you think is dumb.

Sissy Graydon Carter of failing Vanity Fair Magazine and owner of bad food restaurants has a problem-his ballot is no longer “hot”!

I am glad that I wrote this article. McBride did real damage with her interview, as should be clear by people who are allies and even some trans people arguing for sports bans. I can promise you that capitulating won’t slow down the extreme stripping of rights. If anything it’ll speed it up.

That's probably the most significant win in Racing Louisville history. Being solidly above the playoff line half way through the season. Heading into the international break after beating the reigning champs 2-0 and making Banda look human. What a damn game. This team might be good.

Racing Louisville PK! 2-0 against Orlando!

RACING LOUISVILLE CORNER KICK KILLERS!

In national elections, liberals like me ask leftists to be coalition partners — hold their noses and vote for a candidate they don't love to beat someone truly terrible. In New York, the shoe is on the other foot. And we should be clear that we're willing to do what we ask of our partners.
