i guess it depends on the type of game but maybe a timer on the demo where it ends and players could be motivated to do speed runs and such to get as far as possible in what time they have. i’ve seen a few games do this and it works well if you had some sort of score or leaderboard system

I think it depends on how long you expect the player to take on those levels in the demo. I think a good demo would be anywhere from 20-40 minutes. It’s gives a taste of the game without spoiling too much of the game mechanics before the full release.

I rarely play games on release. I beat Elden Ring this past summer and would say it's definitely close to my 2024 game of the year even though it has been out for years at this point, same goes for RDR2.
