Haven't done a lot with it yet. I went through the docs and loved the approach. nit: The desktop app is a bit rough around the edges.
Maybe it's a silly question, but I wonder if part of the goal was to enable building agentic apps on top of this.
In which case, an SDK would be interesting 👀

I noticed that too! That's a bigger problem with Claude which is super expensive.
But I can see local models being sufficient for running most workflows in the near future, or maybe models like gemini-flash+ becoming even cheaper.

Benchmarks say it's on par with o1-mini, but I'm more familiar with Sonnet 3.5, compared to which I think it's at the same level or better.

On an M4 mini it will get you 20 tokens/s, which is faster than we can read, but should be fast even on M1s

Depends on your system's ram, I guess 8b should be safe for most people.

You never know when they're opening the latch to a new pasture or the one full of predators though.
That's why there's always contention

Exactly. Automated perf tracking and PIP is a race to the bottom in the overall culture imo.
Sound's a lot like Charlie Munger's quote: "Show me the incentive and I'll show you the outcome”.
In the long run people will optimize for ticking these arbitrary checkboxes.

Oh, and some features are geoblocked. If you have an UK based account you can't use the Host card emulation entitlement 😛

You start with a base of Germanic Anglo-Saxon,
mix in a healthy dash of Old Norse,
a huge dollop of Norman French,
and just a barely detectable hint of Celtic - Trust me, it'll make all the difference.
Stir it up for hundreds of years until the vowels really start to shift, and then...
English.

I still have PSTD from when younger me had to build a calendar widget for an event scheduling feature and first learned about issues with java.util.Date.
Then learning about java.time, then joda-time, then joda-time-android.
