EV car sales up. Petrol and diesel down. www.smmt.co.uk/vehicle-data...

Education really is everything

'thousands of deaths a year are linked to air pollution' This is fine unless you like breathing.. Well lets delay those rules! #nzpol newsroom.co.nz/2025/03/03/a...

"... petrol cars are losing value fastest, while electric vehicles are bucking the trend." "By 30,000 miles, the average petrol car has lost 38 per cent of its value, while EVs have only dropped 26 per cent, according to the report." (Report from Carwow) www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/a...

New car registration data out today www.smmt.co.uk/vehicle-data... BEV up 41.6% in January 2025 compared to same month 2024. I was expecting low BEV registrations due to pre-registering in 2024 to hit LEV targets. Maybe BEV sales are better than fossil fuel funded newspapers have been saying.

Massive fire at Martinez oil refinery in Contra Costa County, California Level 2 hazmat declared due to thick, black, toxic smoke and intense fire Authorities tell residents to shelter indoors, avoid breathing air But what about those wind turbines, eh?

Today was the first time I've talked to someone who traded in an EV for an ICE car. After less than a month they reversed the trade-in and got their EV back. They said they preferred driving the EV, and the cost of refueling, seemed to be the two major reasons for going back to the EV.

Had a work trip to Cologne last week with two colleagues. Rather than fly, we drove - London to Cologne in an EV. Minor niggles with charging (there is no excuse for the flakiness, eg having to retry starting charging) but we would all do that trip in an EV again.

I saw a post of screenshot of US constitution 14th amendment and wondered why pardons (or commuting of sentences) of insurrectionists are not "aid or comfort to the enemies" of the Constitution of the United States? constitution.congress.gov/browse/amend... (I'm not a US citizen, just interested)

"The next item as you announced in your speech is a requirement that federal workers return to full time in person work immediately" Why do they hate working from home so much?

Trump has pardoned nearly all of the Jan 6th insurrectionists- including the leader of the Proud Boys, a far right extremist group. Nearly 1500 will he released immediately.

Trump pulling the US out of the Paris Climate Agreement for the second time. Joining Iran, Libya and Yemen as the only countries outside the agreement.

Magic Money Tree. UK's last Conservative govt spent £134m on never-used IT systems for failed Rwanda scheme. Altogether, billions wasted. Contracts handed to cronies. Ministers ignored “value for money” advice. No one held to account. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...

While I'm passing, (I'm frightfully busy) we've recently released a fascinating podcast about the multiple issues and solutions in the vista of electric vehicle charging. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fq8V...

Private school run in south London linked to 27% rise in air pollution

Replaced tyres on my car (EV) - they lasted 32000 miles (still very legal; down to 3mm which I'm told is time to change them). That's average lifespan, isn't it? Not eating through tyres like some suggest.

Not a single Reform MP has bothered to turn up to today's House of Commons debate on tackling violence against women and girls

"According to the National Incident Recording System, there were 105 vehicle fires on Oxfordshire roads, none of which were from electric vehicles." www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/2483701...

Yes. Its getting warmer. #nzpol #climatechange

This could be a good time to buy a new EV because the ZEV mandate looks like it resulted in many pre-registrations in December. Dealers might have good offers now to get them sold - they won't want to be holding too much inventory. See new car registration data: www.smmt.co.uk/vehicle-data...
