The OMH is essential to address the health disparities that impact minority groups from heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and cancer. We must continue to research and develop treatments that help the community. Why anyone wants to terminate an office designed to make people healthier is beyond me.

It was great to meet with the folks at Melwood. For over half a century, they have provided employment training and jobs to the developmentally challenged in our community. I am honored to accept the AbilityOne Champion Award and thank you for giving the most vulnerable access to employment.

On so-called Rogue Rulings Bill, my take: When ruling on an injunction, judges must be impartial. An administration should not bully the bench to its will. This is a matter of life and liberty versus incarceration and impoverishment and should be a matter for serious and thoughtful consideration.

On this day in 1959, the first NASA astronaut was introduced. I'm proud to have NASA Goddard in my district, and I understand how our world-class astronauts, scientific discoveries, and observatories like Hubble can inspire the next generation. NASA must be protected, not corrupted.

Last week, DOGE fired thousands of workers at HHS including 300 employees at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), including folks at the Coordination Office. This will disrupt coverage and negatively affect the health and well-being of seniors dually enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid.

In 1968 civil rights leader, Martin Luther King, Jr., delivered the Mountaintop speech in Memphis, Tennessee. This is a prime example of strategic and effective oration, the antithesis of what we saw yesterday with President Trump’s speech attacking our allies by imposing unnecessary tariffs.
