Even assets in the game that were made by other people, such as the Scox sprite, were formatted in GIMP and exported again. You might call this a kind of GIMP encapsulation, or a GIMP suit.

Your Holy & Virtuous Heretic. A SMT-inspired RPG with presentation reminiscent of RPG maker classics like Hylics and Space Funeral. I am always a sucker for a mix of esoterica symbols, wildly exaggerated attack animations and blunt writing in my indie RPGs which this developer has in spades.

Bifrons' design and sprites are by @lordsovorn.bsky.social! You can see more of their amazing pixel art horror work on their Tumblr and Bluesky, and you can also back their Patreon. Links below: linktr.ee/lordsovorn

Your Holy and Virtuous Heretic: Very neat, very SMT-inspired RPG with a great visual style and a neat approach to demon negotiation. Honestly, I feel like you know if you'll like this one based on your reaction to any screenshot. I liked it a lot!

15) Your Holy & Virtuous Heretic Movement speed is a little slow, but otherwise I'm really charmed with this. Love the demon negotiating, and do dig the vibe and aesthetic. Wishlisted.

Your Holy & Virtuous Heretic (Dev: i will bite raw coffee beans) A bizarre, irreverent and fascinating RPG where you fight and recruit monsters while exploring a world opened up by an elder god summoning gone awry. I'm going to be thinking about this one for a while. No AI usage disclosed

Your Holy & Virtuous Heretic is a first person RPG about talking to monsters and trying to clear up the mess you made when you tried to subjugate an Elder God. Bizarre, funny, enigmatic. One to watch! Feels almost like a DreadXP game (in a good way!)

When I was probably 5/6 I used my Mum's Dell ThinkPad running Windows XP (outdated at this point in time, roughly 2007/2008).

Can't believe I'm seeing this deeply silly graph

It's been a long 3 years of getting to this point and I have no doubt finishing the game will be even more of a journey. But getting to this point and knowing you guys have my back, makes me know that I will do it, and that it will kick ass. The only way forward is up!

A very near-future patch to the demo will include a Special Thanks section of the credits that thanks you all by name. If you've contributed and I haven't tagged you here, DM me and I'll put you in there somewhere as well.

Also, I want to extend my thanks to the people who have supported me at previous events, like @chloeappleby.bsky.social, @noblesteedau.bsky.social, @theindiebrew.com.au, and @wellplayed.bsky.social. I wouldn't be here without them, they are the cornerstone of the Australian games scene!

I also want to thank the artists who have assisted me on this project so far, @whalejacq.bsky.social as well as Lord Diana and Lucky Smith. I would be remiss not to mention the playtesters, lead with the invaluable assistance of Mungo Lennon. You can find the full list in the demo's credit screen.

Anyone who's enjoying the demo now should go check out the other work of its composer @lorespinner.bsky.social. You can find his work on Bandcamp (lorespinner.bandcamp.com/) and on streaming services.

Basically, it's a blessing and a relief that people are picking up what I'm putting down, and that when they do, they really enjoy the game. That feeling is priceless and makes the act of hammering away at this big-ass game much easier.

As a solo developer it's really easy to get in my own head and lose sight of what makes the game worth making. It's people getting excited about the game, playing the game, and writing stuff like this that keeps me going. (first screencap from @pcgamer.com, second is from @pressstartau.bsky.social)

I try not to think too hard about metrics. But this, and the PCGamer article I posted earlier, remind me that people enjoy and care about the game, and that matters a lot.

Your Holy and Virtuous Heretic looks like an occult turn-based RPG dungeon crawler type beat. neat

ANTICITIZEN RED was the one that wasn't on my radar which looks sick, but also Malys ofc, Nullstar Solus, Winnie's Hole, Your Holy and Virtuous Heretic, Draculesti. Parasensor, Innkeep, Sping, Microvania, Key Fairy, Letters to Arralla all looking cool too. This has become an unhelpfully long list.
