Starting a thread for my current rewatch of Twin Peaks, which I first watched 10 years ago and found so deeply unsettling that I avoided all of Lynch’s work for years. Diving back in lately and apparently I’ve processed some of those fears over the past decade of my life because now I love it. ❤️

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

I appreciate all of these attempts to kill art—AI, the corruption of the NEA, the Kennedy Center coup, evil corporations buying up properties l. It shows that they know art is still dangerous and powerful. What they don’t understand is that you can’t ever truly choke it out. Keep making art.

‘Free Luigi’ billboard has gone up in lower Manhattan the evening before his next court appearance. Sent in anon.

Seems like a good moment to remember the least depressing, most awesome James Bond discourse that’s happened during my time on the internet: the Gillian Anderson for Bond movement of 2016 😍

My gender affirming care fundraiser stickers are up!! They’re really silly and cute but they also help me out! ko-fi.com/s/c3a565865f

it was bad when the worst poster on my favorite website bought that website and made it terrible but it has been worse having that person also buy my country that i live in

Keep. Making. Art.

He’s so cool he probably even made Nova Squadron. Hope he attempts that Kolvoord Starburst and tries as many times as it takes 🖖🏻

I am no longer accepting the argument "there are bigger problems than this!" unless you are personally working to stop the ultimate Heat Death of the Universe.

Gay men. Straight women. Now is the appointed hour. They are distracted. They are slightly drunk. They are feeling nostalgic about (checks notes) mayonnaise for some reason. Go to the place agreed. Enact the ritual. Wrest the control they have so clumsily squandered. Abracadabra amoroonana.

Alwayes a goode daye to tell your friendes you love them

Omg I have one. FLICKA (2006) is a mess and not very “good” but somehow manages to (accidentally?) strike at some deep, disturbing, heartbreaking foundational truth about fathers and daughters?? It goes so much harder than it has any right to. I love it. The height of horse girl cinema.

Just randomly (unfortunately) remembered BLONDE, and how my biggest takeaway from that film was that I hope Andrew Dominik never makes a movie about a woman ever again. Checked his upcoming projects, and thankfully, it seems he is not. May it stay that way forever amen 🤞🏻

What happened today in Sacramento was beautiful. Thanks for organizing @50501movement.bsky.social

When you finally see a movie and now you can listen to all the podcasts about it >>>>

I'm subscribing to Wired today too. They've been running circles around other outlets lately in their coverage of (gestures around) all this. Awesome to see they've had record new subscriber numbers in this past week, as they should. $6 for a whole year of digital *and* print is amazing

Weird how not a single one of the newspapers and magazines that have been breathlessly churning out "cancel culture" thinkpieces for the past four years have managed to use the word "censorship" at all to describe the most rapid and comprehensive campaign of mass-censorship in recent US history.

turns out when transphobes said we need to “follow the science” what they meant is delete it and hide all traces of it

hollywood's got a lot to answer for imo for instance getting us to believe that villains would be intelligent and interesting

I left one (1) comment on a Letterboxd list of films with unusual sex scenes. I now receive daily emails with the subject line "New comments regarding 'She's having sex with WHAT?'" and honestly, thank you Letterboxd for making sure I never miss a beat in this vital and ever-evolving conversation.

When i like a post it means i agree with everything that person has ever said or done
