i have argued before that MAGA is recapitulating antebellum pro-slavery ideas about citizenship and bodily autonomy. one thing i am also thinking about, when it comes to the rendition of people to a foreign gulag, is the way it is reminiscent of the kidnapping of free blacks for sale into slavery

Today, we're in the Lake District and stopped at Blackwell House, an Arts and Crafts mansion designed by Mackay Baillie Scott for the Holt family around 1886 on the shores of Windermere lake. If I owned this house, I would never leave!

The way I don't grok for people who use AI to generate IDEAS, though. I don't know how other people's brains work, but for me, being alive = having ideas. They only turn off during deep sleep. Otherwise, to be is to generate ideas!

Unpopular but IMO correct opinion: A country founded on the premise of no taxation without representation should enfranchise everyone who legally lives, works, and pays taxes within its borders. Requiring citizenship to vote is unethical and hypocritical.
