I really liked Orbital but your criticism is true. There isn’t a plot. Its sensibilities are closer to poetry than prose. It reminds me of another book I think about often, Alan Lightman’s Einstein’s Dreams.

There is speculation it will be donated his presidential library. For his own personal use.

Interesting. Is that only on the local level? It’s not my experience visiting STL. And for the 1st time in his life my husband doesn’t want to visit STL & is avoiding taking calls from his friends bc their political views are so awful. My hat’s off to those who fight the attitudes I’ve encountered.

I agree. Outside perspectives are a big contributor to new science, technology, literature and art.

Are you SURE? I wouldn’t. I would want my child to be able to die with dignity.

Then they are idiots. He has zero chance of being elected. I don’t know a single Democrat who isn’t running away from him at this point and he’ll never win Republicans. He’s always had a used car salesman vibe. They’ll never believe he isn’t a secret liberal. We’ll never believe again that he is.

There’s a great documentary on Netflix called “Crip Camp” with lots of historical footage.

Did we go to the same school? Both of those were assigned reading in my high school.

We aren’t a monolith and we don’t like the nut jobs who educationally neglect their kids or use religion to make them household slaves. Just like all rural people aren’t MAGA, all homeschoolers aren’t seeking to shelter their kids and limit their knowledge. (Star swipe) The more you know.

There are many secular homeschoolers & we do it for many different reasons. Most of the kids in the circles I’ve belonged to around the world (travel for work was ours) were better prepared for college and life than most of their public school peers. I still want my taxes to pay for public schools.

I’m sure it was sad for you, too. I’m glad the San Diego store is thriving. I have a lot of great memories of the RB store. We’ve got a few great independent bookstores within driving distance but nothing quite like Mysterious Galaxy.

I’ve been looking for clear instructions on weaving in ends for years. Thank you!

I so miss your Redondo Beach store.

I think the DNC should have a website with a list of EOs and how each one is unconstitutional. Under each is a list of the various court rulings, updated as they change. No other comments. If we don’t start making our case now, less informed people will ask why it wasn’t pointed out earlier.

This was a favorite of my book club.

^This. I’ve been saying this to anyone who will listen since the 2008 crash. I know there must be people with vision. Where are they?

I’ve definitely had the feeling that I’d be besties with some authors IRL if we ever met.
