In 30 days, LGBTQ+ youth will lose the life-saving suicide hotline—a program that’s supported over 1.3 million young people. When folks are in crisis, this admin chooses cruelty over care—every time. But this is the party of ā€œfamily values,ā€ right?

What happened to Senator Padilla is absolutely DISGUSTING. Point blank, period. This shit is out of control. Another elected official disrespected while doing their job. (1/2)

Truth-tellers, not rioters. Protect these two men at all costs. ā€œYou feel tough with your assault rifles and your sticks. You should be standing here with us. You’re on the wrong side of history.ā€ ā€œJohn Lewis said make good trouble… that means make trouble on behalf of democracy.ā€

Love this reminder so I can figure out where I am in my novel. #5amwritersclub #WritingCommunity

George Floyd was murdered by police five years ago today. The Say Their Names cemetery in Minneapolis features memorials for Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Amadou Diallo, Oscar Grant, Korryn Gaines, Freddie Gray and far too many more Black people who died at the hands of police.

As well he should

George Floyd should be alive today. He should be raising his daughter, living his life. 5 years later, we owe him more than thoughts and hashtags. His daughter said, ā€œMy daddy changed the world.ā€ Let’s stop failing her, and him. Congress must pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.

HHS Secretary RFK Jr. posted photos of himself swimming in a sewage-filled creek. A fitting metaphor for his entire approach to public health. www.mediaite.com/politics/rfk...

Removing Black and Brown people, both immigrants and citizens, while immigrating White South Africans, the descendants & often the beneficiaries of apartheid, speaks volumes. This administration makes it clear who they are. Believe them.

I’m interrupting your doom-scrolling to remind you: -you are still here & that matters -there is still hope -there are still things we can do -there are still ways we can make things better -the fight is long from over -take a breath, take a break -we still have each other -we can still win

Good Night World

It's not just about Kilmar Abrego Garcia. It's about due process and the rule of law in our nation.

baby star šŸ’«

The Supreme Court blocked the Trump admin from deporting Venezuelans out of the Bluebonnet facility in TX — for now. The Alien Enemies Act of 1798 has NO place in modern immigration policy. This pause is a win, but the fight is far from over. And yes — Thomas & Alito dissented. Of course they did.

Bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia home already!!!!

Literally everyone deserves to go out for dinner, buy coffees, wear quality clothing and have fun experiences whilst also being able to afford rent, groceries, bills & have a little left over for savings no matter what job they do. Why is that so absurd to some people?

Today, we’re voting on what Republicans are calling the ā€œSAVE Actā€ā€”but let’s be real, it’s a straight-up voter suppression bill. They are literally trying to make it harder for millions of Americans to exercise their right to vote. I’m voting NO—hell no, actually.

I’m saying this in my capacity as an author and once and future library worker: Read whatever the hell you want. I cannot impress enough on you that the ā€œimportantā€ books aren’t important if you don’t jive with them. The popular books, the canon, the whatever. Read what you want.

i don’t know if i posted this recently but i learned that more than half of homeless people in the US were once in the foster care system. that blows my mind. homelessness isn’t a personal failure. it’s a systemic failure.

Omg omg omg omg omg

Republicans think slashing and tearing things apart is the solution to everything—especially immigration. But mass deportation isn’t a plan. It’s dangerous—and it leads to innocent U.S. citizens being deported. Just another example of them having no real plan—only concepts of one.

It's interesting that the rapid rise in honey bee mortality over the past few months hasn't attracted as much media attention as it did when Colony Collapse Disorder was diagnostically formalized in 2007. The situation is arguably far worse now, but the news environment has been hollowed out.

Food access is a basic human right. Remember that when you look to leaders who: āŒdefunded food banks, āŒeliminated support for farmers, āŒfought to end free meals at schools, āŒand are responsible for rising food costs that literally forces people to choose between other essentials and eating.

Period šŸ˜ŒšŸ’…

There was a mass call a few days ago with Chicago Teacher's Union and other unions planning for May Day 2025 which will feature marches across more than 100 cities nationwide. The marches are driving towards a May Day Workers’ Strike on May 1, 2028

While I am overjoyed that the recent protests were overwhelmingly peaceful & folks feel inspired & energized, I am holding space for all of the marginalized folks who saw the lack of force those protesters were met with & remember how we were brutalized for marching & protesting for our lives.

Y’all gotta go read books. There’s no way around it. Read books. Form your own opinions. LEARN THINGS. READ BOOKS WHILE LIBRARIES ARE STILL AROUND

Hi, sending people to El Salvador, if they're not from El Salvador, is not deportation. It's human trafficking, and this entire regime is complicit in crimes against humanity. I hope I live long enough to see them all stand trial with the whole world arrayed against them.
