Although I did hear an interview with Jack (blond mullet) in which he explained he got off the train as he was desperate for the toilet. Which I suppose, if you're not that fussed about the game, is better than peeing your pants on camera... 😄

Said this when I was watching the first episode. Rational decision was for each contestant to sit in silence until the 40 mins was up, calling the producers' bluff. Being a "team player" and winning a 0% share of a massive jackpot still = £0 for you!

I've heard that govt ministers are considering such a cap, which is encouraging. Restricting company donations to their UK profits would be great too. But both are needed.

I'd welcome this legislation, but I'm bemused at the implication that it's fine for UK billionaires to influence our elections by sloshing their cash. Surely, in tandem with closing the company donation loophole to block foreign funds, we also need a general cap on donations from UK individuals?

Not only is this just a very weird thing to comment in general, but the guy holding the phone is clearly also the person everyone else is currently listening to at that moment. It's almost guaranteed he's sharing something from his phone relevant to the conversation.

An unelected Life Peer who can't be removed from office decrying cancel culture... Makes about as much sense as if Captain Scarlet were to fear the fragility of mortal existence

Yep, I can see why tradespeople/those commuting to out-of-town sites etc. value motorways over public transport. Can understand why they would object to losing space on the road outside their homes. No sense blaming people for acting rationally in line with the design of their built environment.

Absolutely. These new build estates should be designed around walkability & public transport. Instead they foster car-centric, insular hellholes. My critique is systemic and I feel there's little value to be gained in blaming residents for behaving in the exact way their built environment dictates.

I feel like this, in itself, is another housing crisis failure. Adult children living with their parents on new build housing estates with no local amenities or public transport provisions. Of course they need four cars!

Just like how the poorest are made to bear the brunt of measures to curb inflation, whilst the wealthy are rewarded with higher interest rates as an incentive to stop splurging so much of their spare cash.

Had a quick scroll and thought "that's not too many". But then went back and counted at least 5. Which, admittedly, is 5 too many. And 20% of all the replies. I think I've become desensitised...

With the added irony of illustrating a piece about the climate crisis using a technology which is so environmentally destructive

Also, not exactly the most important point here, but has BBC News generated this 'plane made of foliage' image using AI?!

Speaking as someone enjoying the series, I couldn't understand why he would agree to meet with the Charles Dance henchwoman in person. Like... couldn't that have just been the security services lying in wait to capture him?!

How many statues would it take to convince you this wasn't just a collective hallucination on the part of Twitter users?
