Endowments support faculty salaries, scholarships, and basic operating expenses, not research. And indirectly, teaching quality will suffer. Researchers can teach things that no one else can, including how to do research (duh!). 🧵

Doesn’t the order matter? If the R bill can’t pass cloture, THEN introduce the 1 month extension and let the Rs vote it down. Don’t introduce it first. If the 1 month extension is voted on first, Rs can vote it down and Ds will be on the spot.
