I grew up patriotic because my father was a high ranking military soldier, we had family die in 9/11. But, I'm not proud to be an American at this point with who we have in office. If anyone will cause WWIII it's Trump. I can't wait for his 4 years to be over. This should have never happened.

Companies should not be able to tell designers and developers they can't have a side business when they can lay us off without notice. As long as we aren't working on a competitor project. We need to protect ourselves, our lives, our families, and our homes.

Everyday I have the thought of selling my home and moving back to Los Angeles. I love LA despite what everyone is saying about California I love it and think it's so beautiful with so much to offer and so many opportunities. I also love living in Las Vegas We decided to visit LA much more now.

I discovered this site yesterday. designsystems.jobs It might be helpful to some design systems designers out there

You'll never have to say "Hey, did you see my file?" again.

How often do you look at the analytics for your team's design system to get data on components being used or detached?

Screw big tech. Meta is paying executives up to 200% bonuses after laying off thousands.

My Puppy Benny got his first grooming cut last week, just in time for the warm weather here in Vegas.

The Samsung M8 isn't as good as my Studio Display but I'm actually really enjoying it. My wife works in film as a Cinematographer so she color corrects edits frequently and the studio display is much better for her work. For me I don't need as accurate of colors for design systems work.

Coffee of the morning. I also Purchased the Samsung M8 monitor so my wife can use my Studio Display for her film work.

built this site tonight using @v0.dev designsystemschecklist.com Check it out.

Coffee is an essential part of my daily routine. This morning, I bought a cortado, Then went to another coffee shop and got a vanilla latte, and now I'm drinking a latte at home.

time for coffee #3

My view today. With an Aeropress Cortado.

I'm excited to be owning the Android part of our design system. We will be building it from 0-1.

It used to be that working in Big Tech was the goal for many of us. Now they value the C-Suite earning more money over the mother or father who just had a baby and needs the job. Companies are making billions and still laying off thousands. It's sad and wrong in every way. It needs to stop.

Today I got rid of my Instagram, Facebook, and threads accounts. I can't support Meta and how they treat their employees.

I wish I had time to just build cool stuff in Figma. Early in my career you couldn't keep me out of Figma, but now that I'm years in and a Lead I'm exhausted after work. Anyone else relate to this?

I've been making some delicious shaken caramel latte's lately.

My wife is using my Studio Display for the next few days. I've been using my portable monitor. It's actually been kinda nice even though it's only 15 inches.

The romanticized idea of working for FAANG seems to be losing its wonder. I'm seeing many ex-faang designers expressing that you should avoid working at these companies. Thats why I've turned down offers and stayed with non-traditional companies with an IT department. Like health tech.

I'm excited to jump back into my regular Design Systems role in the coming weeks.

In my free time, I want to try to build a design system using Figma and an AI coding tool like Windsurf or Cursor. Design teams might start hiring designers who can code using AI to build design system components much faster.

I've been off Instagram, Threads, and deleted Twitter. I haven't even used Bluesky much and my mental health is great.

For the last 3 weeks, I transitioned away from our design systems team. I was tasked with leading one of CVS Health's newer teams. I manage two designers and work alongside two SMEs. I'm still working on the design systems front but mainly lead this new team. It's stressful but rewarding

I've been super tired and haven't been online much the past few weeks. I started leading another team at work on top of design system work. So the extra workload is draining me so much. Very much looking forward to the weekend to recharge a bit.

This weekend, I decided to paint my office. Now, I need to buy and install a few floating shelves. And get some more comfy seating.

Career hack. Find a boss that actually cares and builds a great team culture. Thankful for where I work.

In 2017-2018, a friend from church who was a high-ranking iOS developer manager at Disney asked me to start learning iOS development. I started but didn't finish, and a few months later, he asked me if I was ready because he was going to hire me. I feel like I fumbled the bag so badly, lol
