Dumb joke for you: This is butter? -actually, it's ghee. -oh, thanks for clarifying.

What makes someone snap like that to think that physically harming someone to the point of injury or death will do anything for their supposed cause? This goes for warped vigilantes and police officers.

Good things are still possible. In spite of every horrible thing.

Resistance is sacred. #NoKings

Is anyone doing some kind of Project 2029 or whatever? We need a plan for how to fix everything after the next election/revolution/creating a new nation from the ashes/etc

All theses tech bros trying to make The Next Big Thing™️, and not one of them is making a dishwasher-safe, microplastic-free cutting board

Finally got a section of office gallery wall hung. It was all going well until a nail hit something more fierce than a stud. (What’s behind it—a plate, a joist, the cask of amontillado? Who can say.) Now I need to figure out the rest of the wall without making twice as many nail holes as necessary.

Meet Kayleigh, the 2025 American Girl doll. Her story is about building friendships amidst her country's fascist government! Her accessories include a matcha latte, processed food for stress-eating, and a tote from a new NPR pledge! Her hobbies include doomscrolling and biting her fingernails!

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

When all the new evergreen needles were lime green in early spring, I taught youngest to “five” them to feel how soft. Now youngest thinks a high five is the most appropriate greeting for a tree, which kinda makes my day. 🌲

One of the many great tragedies of all of this is that if H5N1 mutates to achieve effective human to human transmission, and maintains a CFR similar to that seen in the D1.1 genotype, the fallacy that fit people don't get sick will collapse in the most shattering way imaginable.

The three people I most often think of relative to the AI debate in terms of consent, ethics, and compensation are Henrietta Lacks, Dr. James Marion Sims, and Muriel Fahrion.

This and despise your neighbor seem to be it

When I was a kid I thought the sonic showers on Star Trek were cool because the future imagined a world where I wouldn’t spend so much time waiting for my hair to dry.

It’s been 5 years since lying awake listening to the buzz of helicopters flying overhead while getting texts from friends about what military vehicles were in or near their neighborhoods, and somehow we still ended up with all this.

Trying to find the mental load upside in a break from washing lunchbox stuff is a little like feeling relief over side-stepping a puddle before a tsunami.

…is the tipping point of national unrest escalating going to be because everyone will unite around keeping national treasure menswear guy safe?

💯 Once you understand eugenics, everything that’s happening makes sense
