Himes: We’re negotiating with the Russians apparently right now over Ukraine, right? Is it possible that our negotiating position is on that Signal chat? Yes, it is. So anyway, it’s Christmas morning in Beijing, Moscow… because of the lack of operational security that these guys are showing.

I don’t remember this pitch during the campaign.

Mark Carney and I were in school together. If I had said to him, “Mark, someday Donald Trump will be President of the United States, and he is single-handedly going to make you Prime Minister of Canada”, he would have called campus security to take me home.

In a Democracy, the FBI Director doesn’t tweet about arresting judges and the AG doesn’t brag on TV that she will “come after” the judiciary. Judge Dugan’s arrest is a blatant publicity stunt and an obvious attempt by Donald Trump to intimidate judges who disagree with him.

Sixty seconds of thoughts on the importance of people power if Trump decides to ignore the courts.

Fantastic rally in Norwalk today. Over a thousand folks standing up against authoritarianism.

Judge Wilkinson (Reagan appointee) writing for the 4th Circuit, turns back the lawless Trump administration like a Greek hero. Absolute poetry: 1/5

3 steps to economic depression: 1) Launch nonsensical tariff plan with maximum uncertainty. 2) Attack the Fed, shaking global confidence. 3) Launch or acquiesce to another war in the Persian Gulf, spiraling energy prices. Check, check, and standby.

Proud of this university. When too many of the top law firms, corporations and media outlets have bent the knee to corrupt, unconstitutional authoritarianism, some have had the courage to say no. History will remember them well.

Bravo. There is a sorting.

I and my 401(k) are getting tired of so much winning

Chris Krebs is a hugely capable, honorable, patriotic guy. The White House and DOJ should be ashamed of themselves. They’re turning us into a banana republic.

It appears that Trump’s Liz Truss lasted exactly 0.7 Scaramuccis

Unbelievable turnout protesting the unconstitutional #MAGA clown show. Retirements: gone Kids college savings: gone American soft power: gone Competent government: gone Free expression: gone Free markets: gone

Huge Hands Off rallies in Greenwich, Stamford and Westport. The people of this country will abide no kings.

Care to guess whether the people who obliterated your retirement accounts this week are being competent about protecting our national security? Maybe check with Jeff Goldberg or Laura Loomer?

Things we have been liberated from: Planned retirements Contributions to our kids’ education Stable pensions Markets for our farm goods Reasonably priced automobiles Full employment What else?

So just so I’m clear, does every new president from now on get to rearrange major law firms going forward? Is that in the constitution? I have some thoughts for the next president.

Himes: This is his life now. He’s nowhere near qualified for the position he holds, so when he gets on a Signal chat with his buddies and says, ‘We’re a go. Centcom says all in. F-18s,’ it just makes him feel really, really good. Sadly, of course, it puts our people at risk.

Himes: "As far as I can tell, we're now on team Kremlin ... the president's chief Russia negotiator, Steve Witkoff, is repeating Russian talking points and participating in a mad cap Signal chat about an attack on Yemen while inside Russia."

Himes: "Apparently all this mayhem is cheered by the president of the United States and by 20-somethings with laptops and names like Big Balls. But I've been doing this for a long time, and I know that Moscow and Beijing and Tehran and Pyongyang cannot believe their luck."

When I was growing up, we were taught that when you make a mistake you apologize and try to do better. These days the most powerful people on the planet are teaching our children to not apologize and attack the reporter.

Wow- Himes during a heated exchange w/Will Cain on Fox: "I'm not gonna listen to to you tell me that this about a partisan advantage...it is by the grace of God that we don't have dead pilots right now...it makes me want to throw up to hear you turn this into a partisan issue. You just need to stop"

Last week, Tulsi Gabbard said “any unauthorized release of classified information is a violation of law and will be treated as such.” By the Trump admin’s own “standards”everyone on this chain would lose their access to classified info and be subject to criminal investigation.

Jim Himes: "This administration acts with an unbelievable cocktail of incompetence and illegality."

In the last three days, Trump appears to have violated court orders in Boston and DC. The GOP won’t make a peep in Congress. The courts need to push back hard with contempt findings or we truly have a constitutional crisis.

Not much noticed amidst the daily bonfire of vandalism, but these were the very smartest people in the Pentagon. Working overtime to keep Americans safe. So of course Hegseth couldn’t tolerate them. Up there with firing the people who maintain our nuclear weapons.

What the President fails to understand is that Putin lies all the time, and he should ask the Intelligence Community if he wants to know what's happening in Kursk (or anywhere else). Putin thinks Trump is an easy mark; stop proving him right.

After refusing to work with Democrats for months, Republicans now need our support to push through their dangerous, partisan funding bill. Why should we help them hand more power to Trump and Elon? Senators should join House Dems in voting NO.

Rep. Jim Himes: Zelenskyy is watching 70,000 dead Ukrainians. Missiles are slamming into hospitals. This is what he’s seeing, and he comes to the Oval Office, and a reporter asks him why he’s not wearing a suit. And the effing VP wants him to say thank you…

The talking points have gone out. The reputations are forever ruined. Amazing how much good people will debase themselves for proximity to power.

Since when does the United States demand its friends and allies beg for help against a bloody dictator?

“Richest man in the world with a chainsaw is not how I imagined living out my best life.” Rep. Jim Himes joins Jen Rubin to discuss the Republican-controlled Congress bowing down to the executive, the worsening impacts of MAGA on Americans & shifting US-Russia dynamics. Watch the full interview now

Pathetic. Ronald Reagan is spinning in his grave.

This is the sophomoric claptrap that ultimately pretzels the intellects and souls of smart guys like JD Vance. McArthur (sic) was fired for insubordination. McCrystal (sic) resigned when his unit disparaged Obama in Rolling Stone. No allegations at all in these firings. 1/4

Connecticut in winter

Himes: "It just looks like an episode of The Sopranos. 'Give us your minerals or we're not gonna help you fight a bloody butcher.' I mean, is this really we want the greatest country in history to be known for -- some mafia thing? ... this president is standing with the bad guy"

I’ll say this positively. I thank the handful of my Republican colleagues who objected when the US President stood with a bloody totalitarian murderer against a struggling democracy. Not today, not tomorrow, but the rest will face history’s harshest judgment.

Like watching a toddler on a racehorse

Sassoon and Scotten showing courage, integrity and deep respect for the rule of law. I’ve got 270 or so colleagues in the Congress who might pick up a tip or two. t.co/kguVUO4yyN

Truly amazing to watch all those who had social media orgasms when the Supreme Court invalidated Biden’s student debt relief now SHOCKED SHOCKED SHOCKED that judges are turning back Trump’s illegal orders. Utterly unprincipled people.

Zero fraud has been found. Lots of programs you don’t agree with, but zero fraud or abuse.
