It's not true that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Racism attacks like any disease, it leaves you weakened and vulnerable. If you're lucky you have the strength and time to rebuild and recover. The best medicine for this disease is love and support from others. You are not alone.

It is important that you shared this experience that you had no control over because
a) we white folks need to be reminded of how often this happens, and
b) you shouldn’t have to feel you can’t share it. An appointment with a therapist is totally justified after abuse. Self care. ♥️

I didn't want to share this at first because it seems tiny compared to everything else in the world...
But it's 10:30am on Saturday morning, I couldn't sleep because I had nightmares, and I found myself sobbing over my morning coffee recalling what happened.
This is going to stay with me.

I don't know what else to say.
I've never experienced the level of racism anywhere else as I have in the U.S., where I'm constantly being classed as "the other."

Thanks!! I have an appointment in a few weeks to get assessed. The pain is getting worse. Can't reach up in a cabinet to get a dish, can't sleep on that side, can't carry a purse lol
