Haven’t touched any of them since Shadow of the Erdtree and just the other day was like “oh shit. I kinda wanna play demon’s souls out of nowhere”

I still think about this

Yeah, felt the same. Well made but just very safe and kind of flat.

For me it ranges from a minute or two to like 10 seconds. NOT very cool!

I remember having a good time with the first half of the game, and then the second half fell off, largely due to an attempt at adding more depth with enemy mechanics...but that kinda just ended up making it worse for me

Probably important to balance that reduction of player speed and precision with the environment. I don’t mind intentionally making things more sluggish or less precise if the environment is balanced around that and it all feels meaningful!
Otherwise it probably just feels bad for the sake of it

As Sony moves more of its exclusives to PC, and Microsoft continues to reduce their exclusivity, it’s basically just coming down to Nintendo or PC (or both) from a practical point of view

I like her already
I think I saw a gif of one of her combat animations and was like "yeah, I wanna play that."

always good to know stuff like this if it pertains to multiple games in a series!

yeeeaaaah, some people are more patient with and resilient to a lack of modern QoL stuff, but I can't say I'm one of them
I can deal with it if the rest of the experience feels worth it, but it's a factor for sure, yeah
comment in response to
post
yeah, this is my thinking too. if I do click with this, I'm not gonna want to wait long, especially if all of the earlier titles are important to later and currently ongoing series

Thank you for your service
I was almost tempted to wait for the remake, but the original trilogy looks great to me aesthetically and I don't want to have to wait (potentially) years between releases of those remakes.

sometimes I just randomly think about the music in ME2 when you're doing the planet-drone-resource minigame and how good it is

time to google search if your graphics card is backwards compatible with your games, nice!

I think those are mainly just bad games. Like even Charlie’s Angels for the Gamecube just feels like a bad game, not shovelware.
comment in response to

I think it’s probably overused a lot of the time. A bad game isn’t necessarily shovelware.
But there’s some stuff, made by some people, in large enough qualities and frequency, that I think the term can be reasonable.

Reynaud’s is so dumb. I get it rarely when it’s cold, and it’s just…bizarre.
Just a weird and dumb thing for the body to do.

Yeah, this feels like a step away from that, in a bad way.
BG3 was impactful because it reminded people you can do big, AAA RPGs that trust in the player and without putting up too many guard rails. That’s a part of why it was GOTY!
And yeah, this isn’t a CRPG, but it IS Obsidian. It’s a shame

you need to take it a step further and slide in something about how the mushroom kingdom is emblematic of western imperialism or I WON’T be impressed

Yuuuuup. The OG 151 literally established the design and art style of what a Pokemon is.
It’s not even about objectmons or whatever. There was a consistency that feels like it was abandoned around Gen 5 or so

It’s kinda crazy to think that, beyond the genre literally being (partly) named after it, Metroid has some of the best games of that genre in both the 2D and 3D formats.
comment in response to
post
Yup. It reminds me of Outer Worlds, but I felt like I had more agency in that game.
It's a shame, especially when BG3 blew up largely because of how much it allowed players to do, and trusted them in the process.

Yeah, high levels of enemy variety should be considered a luxury. Not from an idealistic point of view, just a realistic one.

I appreciate Fares' honesty, but also, I'm not going to give a single dollar to anything that has Gen AI in it, to the best of my ability.

I was (more than) happy with the end experience, but I’d be cool with more of that direction too
