Culture committee chair Caroline Dinenage said the claims about Frediani are “deeply disappointing and frustrating,” and part of a “conveyor belt of unacceptable behaviour." She said the FOI figures suggest the BBC is failing to take misconduct seriously. deadline.com/2025/03/bbc-...

Figures obtained under FOI raise questions about the BBC's "zero tolerance" position after a wave of power abuse scandals. The BBC only meted out punishment in around a third of cases where bullying, harassment and sexual harassment complaints were upheld. deadline.com/2025/03/bbc-...

Richard Frediani has faced bullying and misconduct claims, but his influence has grown. He was handed News at One soon after the BBC upheld a complaint about the alleged shaking incident. Our story reflects on disquiet behind Breakfast’s famous red sofa. deadline.com/2025/03/bbc-...

Davie cautioned against giving Westood a final warning in April 2010 after a complaint regarding the DJ's on-air sexual innuendo about “red velvet cake.” Davie told the barrister review that the threat of firing Westwood could have been "disproportionate" to his remarks.

A subplot of the Tim Westwood review: how clean is Tim Davie? The BBC director general headed up radio for 4 years of Westwood's era. Today's barrister review says Davie had "very limited involvement with Westwood or issues relating to him," but there was one nugget (cont.)...

Many congrats, Michael. Look forward to crossing paths on a story in the future. (I posted this on the other place, but realised it will probably get lost in the stream of nonsense and abuse. Remember when people said nice things about job news on Twitter?)

Is it fair for the BBC to throw the independent producer under the bus? I suspect many will conclude not. This film was commissioned by a team of seasoned current affairs filmmakers/journalists who sit under BBC News CEO Deborah Turness. deadline.com/2025/02/bbc-...

As is common with BBC reviews, like the Brand one published yesterday, they raise as many questions as they answer. The producer of Comic Relief? BBC Studios, then run by Tim Davie. Boss of BBC1? Charlotte Moore. Did they know of 2016 complaint? If not, why not? deadline.com/2025/01/russ...

The Comic Relief revelation shows the BBC missed repeated warnings about Brand, that the 2016 employee complaint was not confined to an isolated historical event, and the issues were a matter of live concern given he was still being hired as a presenter. deadline.com/2025/01/russ...

Here are the receipts. The BBC says it's unfair to compare Netflix to one channel, so I also stacked it up against channel portfolios. None of this is particularly surprising, but tables like this really bring home to me how Netflix is disrupting decades of order in TV viewing.

That @jakekanter.bsky.social has nailed how Musk's pick-up of the gangs follows original reporting by one reporter at GB News, responding to audience demand. All aided by a genuine lack of mainstream court coverage of such cases due to the collapse in trad local news. deadline.com/2025/01/elon...

Elon Musk has engaged with or amplified grooming gang posts from GB News and its presenters on at least 37 occasions over the past nine days, highlighting the insurgent network's influence over his interest in the scandal. deadline.com/2025/01/elon...

All but one, I should say. I forgot The Gentlemen was a film.

A nugget in this portrait of Francesca Gardiner (daughter of King Charles' pal Sir John Eliot Gardiner) that raised some industry eyebrows: the Harry Potter TV series boss has hired her sister as a writer. Her sister has no major screen credit to her name. deadline.com/2024/12/harr...

"There is a lot of gun-wielding in the film which makes it impossible to divorce the images you’re seeing on screen from the circumstances of Halyna Hutchins’s death." deadline.com/2024/11/rust...

Spurs officials would do well to listen to Ben Davies: it's a serious matter, handled seriously. Time to move on for all concerned, but most of all Sonny.

For the club to be appealing — even if it is just about the length of the ban rather than the substance — is beyond dispiriting. Senior Spurs officials would do well to listen to Ben Davies: it's a serious matter, handled seriously. Time to move on.
