Democratic politicians need to grasp that we are done letting the other side frame it as if we all suddenly now inhabit some lawless consequence-free dystopia. Laws exist. They are violating them. The Supreme Court agrees. We need these people hauled up in court so they can tell it to the judge.

👇🎯 They. Are. Breaking. Signed. Contracts. For. No. Legal. Reason. You want to pass legislation not funding this stuff going forward? Fine. Epically idiotic, but legal. This is something else. Shredding the basic foundations of the rule of law. Textbook authoritarianism.

I will keep beating this drum until the tide turns: Obama's DNC speech got him rock-star attention, but the key reason he became a viable presidential primary candidate was his opposition to the Iraq War back when many elected Dems--especially Hillary Clinton--supported it.

Student who ran a political debate club at FSU shares that the shooter was kicked out of the club because of his far right rhetoric and white supremacist views.

My latest at TNR: Liberals aren’t losing the culture war because the Right is better funded—they’re losing because culture and the people who make it are vanishing into the abyss of AI and private equity. Read it here newrepublic.com/article/1935...

Yep. A huge chunk of the institutional right is 501(c)(3)s and 501(c)(4)s that have no organic support whatsoever. Just billionaire-funded make-work jobs for ideologues.

Rubio says he is deporting students for antisemitism, but its a cover for hime to pursue attacks on higher education and immigrant students. The fact that he launders his views with actual antisemites gives the game away. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/the-attack...

the most appalling part of this political era is the physical harm they are inflicting on innocent people but secondary to that i find the constant smug lectures from this country's biggest collection of hypocrites, scammers, perverts, pedophiles, and overall bozos very distasteful

The face of the Chris Rufo/Ron DeSantis model of higher education at New College. They forced real professionals and educators out to replace them with this.

Even if you let the top rate expire, the tax cuts for the richest Americans are still larger than the tax cuts for the bottom 60%. The rich still get estate tax cuts, passthrough dedication, corporate cuts, the benefits from other rate cuts, etc. It’s still an enormous tax cut for the rich.

Hey @bobcesca.bsky.social - you don't think Dem establishment needs to listen to what the people are saying to win more elections? It's the PARTY'S JOB TO LISTEN AND LEARN in 2025. Get leaders that STEP UP AND LEAD. Don't tell us that we have to blindly support losers like the Schumers and Durbins

a democratic politician calling out fox news hosts by name and identifying them as villains is necessary and has been sorely lacking

Steve Kerr: "I believe in academic freedom. I think it's crucial for all of our institutions to be able to handle their own business the way they want to. And they should not be shaken down and told what to teach, what to say, by our government. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

Harvard figured out what everyone else in power needs to understand: Complicity with Trump will not save you. Standing up isn't just the right thing to do. It's the smart thing to do. He will renege on any "deal" you make and come after you anyway. www.salon.com/2025/04/16/h...

Who does JD Vance think he’s bullshitting with his bullshit? There’s something both pathetic and infuriating about the imaginary dope he’s invented in his head to be more clever than—trying to manipulate the discourse like a cat trying to pick up a pencil, you have no thumbs, dummy.

Paul Krugman: What matters in a trade war is that China can fairly easily find other agricultural suppliers, buying soybeans from Brazil instead of Iowa. By contrast, the United States will have a hard time replacing many of the goods it imports from China. open.substack.com/pub/paulkrug...

For fuck’s sake, stop treating this with any level of seriousness! Stephen A is a clown. Remember what happened the last time we treated a clown with any seriousness? It ended up becoming serious, and now we’re on Round 2 of the nightmare.

This makes 2 innocent people (Kilmar and Andry) who've been sent to the CECOT based on sloppy testimony from cops who were later disgraced. Andry's accuser: www.jsonline.com/story/news/i...

I am once again begging people to realize that the law is words on paper and is not self executing. "That's illegal" is not and has never been synonymous with "that's impossible" or "that can't be done." "That's illegal" means "you might get in trouble for that depending on who you are."

When the “first hundred days” coverage starts, keep this in mind. FDR’s hundred days was a special session of Congress that passed legislation to enact his agenda. The story here is *not* how active the Trump administration’s been—it’s the unprecedented and unconstitutional consolidation of power.

I will say this - EVERYONE with power seems to be desperately hoping that unpopularity does the work that consequences need to do
