Nope, and all of you are complicit. You act as though you made some noble gesture. You made an empty gesture, and the people of Gaza will be just as f*cked--or more so as we are learning.

They did hear; but they weren't going to campaign on the issue. They knew, but they weren't going to win on that issue. They knew those protesters weren't going to vote at all, so why campaign on it and lose people who would vote for sure? And we know that they did NOT have great polling and data.

In a democracy it is your job. And if you don't, who will? In a democracy, the leaders reflect the people; they don't convince them. By not voting, you capitulated. You gave up every chance to change the outcome.

You aren't voting for genocide. You would have been voting for the power to still change the outcome--for Gaza and for everyone else. Now you have no power, and neither does anyone else. You actively hindered your cause. Cut off your nose to spite your face.

They don't know why you didn't show up. For all they know or care, you were stoned. They didn't hear that you were concerned about Gaza. And now even those who might have heard no longer have the ability to do anything about it because the Republicans are out to break everything and have the votes.

Those are also how you move the party to the left if that's what you want--on one issue or on many. By campaigning and speaking because that's the language people running for office speak and hear. All of them.

Money flows uphill because we keep electing people who don't regulate that shit. You want more power? Take it back by showing up. Help is great, but power helps more. Next time (if there is one), be active in the primaries, in promoting other parties, etc. Then when it's down to two, pick one.

And no, it isn't one as bad as the other. Of course, we're assuming there will be another election--by no means a certainty thanks to people like you. Your one-issue voting choice helps no one and hurts everyone, including those most affected by your one issue.

You should support the Dems (in a general election) because a) they aren't the biggest culprits, and b) somebody is going to win, and Republicans are worse by orders of magnitude. Change it how? Run for office. Campaign in primaries. Educate potential voters on the issues. Contact your reps.

Serious means doing what we can to help. You haven’t done that.

I love that hypocrisy—I’m busy online, but you aren’t.

You put a lot out there, then shrugged and said “f it, that didn’t work“. You also said that at the expense of your fellow human beings in the US and around the world. All because you couldn’t be bothered with learning to be a big government office guy. In other words, lazy.

Speaking all the right words but not acting in love is just a clanging cymbal. You failed to act. You are culpable. But hey, there's hope--you can act now.
comment in response to post
If you don't work to change the system from within, you can't just blame the system for existing. Your failure to act is on you--and it will hurt millions. You are culpable then, and your best bet now is to work to bolster your cause within the system we have left while we still have one.

Classic--I am not responsible because, well, I don't want to be held accountable for my actions (or inaction). Did you run for office? Campaign or phone bank in the primaries? Contact your representatives at every level? Take out ads, go on radio shows, send a letter to the editor?

You aren’t obligated to vote, but not doing so is voting for the bad guy. You are partly to blame for everything that happens in Palestine now, just as you are partly to blame for everything that happens in the US. And if you think they were equivalent, you are as stupid as you are culpable.

Your inaction and indifference are the problem. Your lack of vote led to Trump‘s win—which you knew because one of them was always going to win. So yeah, you share the blame, both at home and in Palestine.
comment in response to post
I didn't. Just ask the Palestinians how they are feeling now.

I think faith should include loving your neighbours as yourself. I think indifference to their plight is exemplified in your comments--you have your ability to leave, so screw the rest.

Ah, but yours are the words of God? But if the Bible is what you want, try this: "I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth." --Revelation 3:15-16

"The worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them: that's the essence of inhumanity." --George Bernard Shaw Your indifference causes genocide. You are the problem.
