The recipe sounds like any other coffee cake, so I’m not sure what is supposed to be German about it. Unless it is just the idea of having cake with coffee? I do love this note from the person who shared the recipe:

Aw. I liked the black gloves. The dress seemed to almost wash her out when she took them off, like the gloves were providing needed contrast and definition.
