Have you read Fritz Leiber's Silver Eggheads? Classic 50s era sci-fi. It takes place in a 'future' where machines write books and authors are just actors who market them. I guess the future is here, pre-satirized for your convenience. We've let you down Fritz.

History is like that sometimes. Nothing ever happens and then it all happens at once.

The implied promise of AI is that you can put the apple back on the tree of knowledge. I think that's why it's so appealing to fascists. They want to be free of the burden of intelligence. All this complicated thinking stuff just makes them anxious.

Even if this stuff actually worked offloading decision making to a digital god is maybe a bad idea. The implicit promise of AI is that it will take from us the burden of intelligence. But we are our choices. The machines can't carry this weight for us.

Toronto police ticket cyclists in High Park for speeding. It's an infuriating allocation of resources when cars are out there killing cyclists and pedestrians. Car brained madness.

A prehistoric handprint in a cave is compelling because there is a whole human life on the other side of that paint. A machine can never give me that.

I thought this season was really strong. Unfortunately fiction has been overtaken by real events. I now wish I could escape into some Black Mirror episodes.

They did this in Toronto and now the streetcar stops don't line up with the subway stops. You have to double back on foot.

I think it's sweet that Hollywood makes movies for this one guy. I'm happy for him.

I worked in a factory. It's do the same action 10000 times in a row everyday all-day. Definitely not satisfying work with your hands crafting.

Cap's character arc is basically complete when he rescues Bucky in the second act. Comic book movies really struggle with third acts. All the character stuff up front and all the schlock spectacle at the end.
