Thanks to those who read the paper (some of whom I met on here). If anyone else wants to have a look, let me know. Thank you to @modalizing.bsky.social for the original idea. #philosophy

Remember for the London 2012 Olympics that 'The proportion of privately educated Olympic winners (37%) is similar to that for MPs (35%), but less than leading journalists (54%) or judges (70%), according to previous Sutton Trust studies.'

I love the sass. I tend to show gratitude, but I only ever get that brainless 'you're welcome' talk back.

Wow, rejected even by her own publisher.
It's an age-old compromise between being honest, having integrity, and trusting the system and playing the game of trying to be heard.
On social media we like to think we're always being our good selves. But we curate and apply filters to our thoughts.

These thoughts are inspired by Umrao Sethi, who puts forward a Berkeleyan view on which the existence of mind-dependent properties is 'secured through the act of conscious perception'. They are not qualities of minds but consist in phenomena. The Aristotelian picture of qualities is thus rejected.

The fans you are referring to don't have much sense, I agree. But you could say RM should have managed his limited resources better. He shouldn't have expected his players to play football they were incapable of playing, for example, and he should have showed more willingness to adapt.

I guess people will say we are losing better now. A pretty pathetic improvement! Personally, I would have liked RM to have been dismissed earlier (after the Leicester game). Now it’s too late. And we won’t even sign any players.

Totally agree. The Ramsdale signing gave me (false) hope though.

Likewise. And Ugochukwu needs to start (which releases Lallana further forward if he plays instead of Aribo).

I recently had the same scare. Glad you found a fix too.

One shouldn't be surprised to discover animal cruelty is happening at RSPCA-approved abattoirs.

Yet the RSPCA endorses animal farming on the flimsiest of bases. Check this argument out (www.rspca.org.uk/whatwedo/how...): 'The vast majority of people currently chose to consume animal products, so we believe in working to achieve the highest possible standards for farm animal welfare possible.'

The state of affairs is horrid. Our best estimate of the number of land animals slaughtered for meat in 2022 is 83.30 BILLION (bsky.app/profile/ourw...).
Vile.
