BREAKING: Federal agents in plain clothes and unmarked cars tried to snatch 1st graders from LA elementary schools—told staff they had “parental consent.” They lied. When pressed, they HID THEIR IDS. DHS admits they sent them. This wasn’t a welfare check. It was a test run for a police state.

This is a pretty important point!

“Firing back”

In order to eliminate any inconvenience to cars, we’ve made it illegal for children to be children

Sure, let’s dissect the mental and physical acuity of the former president who sought to make lives in America better while minimizing the reality of a deranged arsonist dismantling the country we’ve known and loved. What a failure to meet this moment.

Sen. Chris Murphy to NBC on Democratic opposition to the GOP mega-bill: "What we're standing in the way of is the most massive transfer of wealth from the poor and the middle class to the rich in the history of the country."

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the health secretary, posted photos on Sunday of himself and his grandchildren swimming in a contaminated Washington creek where swimming is not allowed because it is used for sewer runoff.

NYC’s congestion pricing is a policy miracle: Less traffic, less noise, faster transit, more business sales, more transit revenue. And it hasn’t produced the negative effects outside the cordon zone we were afraid of. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

It's 2015. President Barack Obama has accepted a "sky palace" jumbo jet from the Qatari government, which he'll own after he leaves office. "Everybody relax," he says in an interview with the New York Times. Everyone does. The networks then televise the military parade in his honor on his birthday.

I'll just take this moment to point out that the US Institute of Peace, just a few weeks ago, contained one of the finest concentrations of US expertise on India and Pakistan, and crisis management in South Asia.

Actually brilliant. Genuinely great metaphor

Republicans are straight up talking about ending upward mobility.

We don't need anger. We need to build. #CanadaStrong

Breaking News: Three federal prosecutors who worked on the criminal corruption case against Mayor Eric Adams said that they would resign rather than admit wrongdoing in refusing to abandon the case, according to an email obtained by The New York Times.

Almost every line of this story would have been simply unbelievable a few months ago: —Pioneering cancer researcher; —*Arrested* at airport in Boston; —Now indefinite ICE detention in Louisiana; —"Crime": not declaring some frog-embryo samples for research. Read it. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

The NYC council voting for this downgrade was just such an own goal.

Manufacturing employs 11m, tourism 12m. #richkid #amateur

This is getting fewer headlines than it should. After coming to power promising to help working people, the president is revealing his real priorities by actively making it easier for banks to rip people off.

Explain to me why encroaching on the second amendment is not allowed even when children’s lives are at stake but the first amendment is easily eroded when someone simply disagrees with our President.

This is smart and important www.nytimes.com/2025/04/14/o...

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

We're in The Bad Place, folks. The existence of an overseas gulag to which you - yes, you personally - can be sent with no recourse marks the end of a whole period of American history. There's no going back after this. Even if these guys are defeated, the new order will have to look much different.

NEW: Ukrainian President Zelenskyy pleads with President Trump to visit Ukraine to “understand what Putin did” after two Russian ballistic missiles hit Sumy, a city close to the Russian border, killing 34 people and injuring 119 others.

every time they make a tariff modification I am legally obligated to tell you it would take 0.05 seconds for them to exempt bananas and coffee but they STILL WONT DO IT

Try not to laugh.

WaPo surveyed manufacturing workers. By a 57-22 percent margin they say tariffs "would hurt rather than help their job/career." And among Trump voters, fewer than half think the tariffs will personally help them www.washingtonpost.com/politics/int...

The most corrupt administration in American history wants you to look the other way from this. We can't. We need answers.

#NEW: The House has also voted to overturn the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's rule limiting overdraft fees to $5. 217-211. All yay votes were GOP, 1 GOP plus all voting Dems were nay. The big banks won. Regular people lost.

You can tell who the Good Guys are because they're the ones smashing a car window to drag a mother away from her child while wearing ski masks.

China continues trolling the US with new videos. Here’s one - “US sweatshop factory”

big lesson for america here: one reason you dont elect people who believe bull shit like "theyre eating the pets" or "theyre putting kitty litter boxes in the classrooms" is bc if they get in power theyll believe bull shit like "tariffs are a tax cut actually"

Boycotting the grocery store until they start buying an equivalent volume of groceries from me

Part of this is the terrible planning and implementation, with no real thought to which imports are critical for US prosperity (lumber, solar panels, etc.) and which aren’t (fast fashion, subsidised base metals). But with this idiotic rollout, a whole generation will likely be anti-tariff broadly.

Gen Z and Millennials: In ten years when we’re still without a cure and you’re caring for your parents, remember what he did.

The Trump administration abruptly laid off the entire staff running a $4.1 billion program to help low-income households across the U.S. pay their heating and cooling bills.

Who did this?

no nintendo bc trump :( kotaku.com/switch-2-pre...

BREAKING Republican Senator Chuck Grassley and Democratic Senator Maria Cantwell have introduced legislation that would require tariffs to be approved by Congress within 60 days, or the tariffs will expire.

It is 2002. I am 18 years old. We are in a once-in-a-generation economic crisis. It is 2008. I am 24 years old. We are in a once-in-a-generation economic crisis. It is 2020. I am 36 years old. We are in a once-in-a-generation economic crisis. It is 2025. I am 41 years old. We are in a—

I don't expect any of our major media outlets to acknowledge this outright, but this is the thing: These aren't 'steep' tariffs, these are _insane_ tariffs. These are 'nobody in the White House understands decimal points' numbers. It speaks to total economic illiteracy _throughout the White House_.

We were cleaning Chinas clock economically. Many predicted they would surpass us by now, and they haven’t. But this tariff stuff will close the gap. Idiots

Patrick and Laura’s home in Etobicoke was built after WWII, when Canada faced a housing crisis and the government stepped in to build more homes. Now we’re facing another housing crisis, and it’s time your government got back into the business of building homes.

NEW: No fewer than 10 principle scientists at NIH investigating emerging infectious diseases and neural disorders were among those fired by RFK Jr. today. One is an esteemed scientist awarded for breakthrough research into the causes of Parkinson's disease. By me and @emilymullin.bsky.social:
