"In person collaboration" is the new "cash is king". #RemoteWork

The Digital Services Tax is a legit tax on US companies who profiting enormously for free. Billionaires just not paying taxes. Who cares if they are mad about it. Doug Ford needs to stfu and remember where he lives.

When roads are closed on the city for extended periods of time they complain about the road themselves, but often this work has nothing to do with the roads but the stuff underneath it. This project for example is intended to upgrade sewers that are over 100 years old.

I don’t know how or have the patience to make memes, but the angry goose one popped into my head with “Millennials are killing the X industry!” “Who isn’t paying us enough?” “WHO MADE HOUSING SO EXPENSIVE” * goose chases human out of scene *

Is anyone surprised? More bogus talking points from President TACO. The digital services tax has been set to kick in for some time. American dairy have an open border up to the point of flooding us. That's when tariffs kick in. They have never even attempted to sell their share into Canada.

Time to put in place export leave’s on all oil and gas, critical minerals, electricity. US founded mega multinationals are not paying their fair share through tax doge schemes. DST needs stay.

Trump says US is "terminating ALL discussions on Trade with Canada, effective immediately. We will let Canada know the Tariff that they will be paying to do business with the United States of America within the next seven day period" It's because Canada is moving ahead with its digital services tax

Over the last free months Canada has upped its border security, agreed to participate in the Golden Dome, and spend 5% of GDP on defence and it basically all means nothing. No agreement will be stable or secure, even if we can eventually reach one. The new normal in Canada-US relations.

Funny how the US has basically the government of Iran now: Supreme Leader who rules by decree, priestly council with token opposition that decides whether the decisions are okay or not on arcane scriptural grounds, and completely ceremonial legislature

This is how public education dies. Remove public oversight, and then privatize and strip the coffers bare for corporate interests.

Great thread 👍🏻

People don’t like forced car ownership. Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen all prove this.

Trump muses and demands 5% of GDP spending on military by NATO countries. Many scoff. Now we have an agreement to spend 5% by 2035. It's crazy how easy it is to get us to commit to militarization to placate a bully and how hard it is to get us to commit to climate action to save ourselves.

UBI as a military expense. Free socialized housing as a military expense. Universal dental care as a military expense. Properly funded schools as a military expense. We can have nice things and meet our stupid NATO commitments within little creative bookkeeping.

The lack of algorithm on Bluesky tells me that we were fools to accept it elsewhere. We all now talk about how Musk uses it to suppress dissent on twitter, but he hardly invented it. Letting someone else set parameters for what you see is maybe the most poisonous thing that social media normalised.

Anyone who thinks World War III is over is a fool. This is just the beginning. Trump and his Fox News cabinet want ratings, but shit’s getting real. While everyone exhales like it’s over—buckle the fuck up. We’re still in uncharted waters, and no one knows what’s next.

Computers used to scream every time they connected to the Internet. They knew. They tried to warn us. We did not listen.

Everyone is gonna differ in their opinion of when that time is. But it will happen. I personally believe it should have already happened. Canada could be a great force for good in the world and it would greatly benefit us. Probably more so than playing nicely with Trump.

I understand Carney has to treat Trump with the delicacy of an explosively drunk uncle at a funeral, but a time will come when we will have to stop walking on eggshells and directly call out his insane behavior. #cdnpoli

It’s not even just the government. It’s the people. 9/11 didn’t happen in a bubble, it was the consequences of decades of the us bombing whoever they wanted, forcing regime change, and trying to control middle eastern politics. These actions have long term consequences, every time

the only point of watching US media right now is to see how truly deranged it is. aljazeera is where you get a more accurate picture of what’s happening.

This is so true. I know boomers will want to criticise this woman but she's right. She's not objecting to working for a living, it's the horrendous travel time she has to put up with that is screwing with her. Us old people were conned into thinking it's fine. The young should rise up.

Unfortunately this will also kill thousands in other countries too, that are being swept up in this antivaxx wave and who will rely on the flawed advice of this panel. We cannot wall ourselves off from the insanity happening in America. It spreads like an infectious disease.

People don't think about enough is the fact that the US falling into the same dark rabbit hole of anti-intellectualism as say China did during the cultural revolution; is simply the fact that this has the potential to dramatically stop all scientific research globally. Its the same pattern.

call me crazy but I don't think we should.

Amazing: MIT researchers revealed how ChatGPT etc are destroying our brains and booby-trapped the report to expose those who want to use AI to ostensibly summarize the results. t.co/JXeTALBPds
