Hard disagree, if we can't tax corporations who are siphoning money from everyone including government to billionaires, we have lost the game. Backing down on DST is a mistake.

But why? Canadian legislation is a joke to understand in comparison to US stuff

This has become the refrain I cling to. Planting these saplings with my entire broken heart.

“Canadians shouldn’t be forced into costly decisions that don’t fit their lives” — like being forced to purchase and maintain a gas powered vehicle in order to get from home to work to groceries because our governments won’t provide adequate transit or connected protected bike infrastructure??

A lot of Via’s problems are due to CN not being forced to prioritize passenger trains. Don’t get me wrong, Via has issues, but when the company that owns and runs the rails does some of the shit they do right now, a lot of the blame can’t be put on Via

Someone leaving for a job in the US doesn’t make them a traitor. That being said I don’t think it’s a particularly wise decision from a safety perspective. I would need to make a substantial salary to feel like I could buy enough safety with the current political climate down there.

A large amount of oil travels through the straight. If Iran aims at it and/or mines it. It’s going to dramatically increase the barrel cost of oil. The Iranian parliament has already approved the action this morning, its up to their military command to make the final call now.

People don’t just wake up one day and decide to commit terror attacks. It’s the product of decades of us intervention in the region. I shudder to think what the long term consequences of these attacks will be on the world

The scariest part is that this probably guarantees in the long run that Iran develops nukes. My guess is there is also going to be a pretty brutal wave of terrorist attacks across western countries now.

The ironic part is that in the long run this war and the inevitable closure of the straight of Hormuz may do more to de-carbon the west than any other action.

This all but guarantees that Iran will build nukes. They were on a path to abandoning it until Trump 1.0, and diplomacy was working slowly. The issue was always Trump and his unwillingness to go 24 hours without a fresh episode of drama tv with his name on it for his own ego

Everyone deserves quality time off. Take the time weekly you need to rest and recover and be with family. We need more quality Steve Boots, not just more in general where you are burnt out

And really, what's happening with AI in combination with specifically US politics is just a version of what happened in China when Mao started the cultural revolution.

AI is being sold as a tool to level that playing field (all while actually just enriching capitalistic elite), because we can't handle the notion that not everyone is exceptional (and that is ok!). Because everyone not being exception means we all need to take care of each other, not exploit
