#Gavin&Stacey LUSH!

Kennedy assassination in 63, then Churchill's funeral, England winning the World Cup and then the Aberfan disaster.

Easily the best description of him I’ve ever read.

Gisele Pelicot should named as the Time person of the year. For bravely waiving her anonymity in one of the most horrific rape cases the world has seen, to take a stand for survivors and shame the perpetrators. Instead they’re featuring Trump, a rapist, for the second time. Obviously.

So many people think 'oh it'll all be okay'. Just like so many people thought 'oh, Dems will pull it out in the end, the other side are loopy'. Nope, and... nope. It might not be okay. Just like it wasn't okay in November.

Be right back. Just setting up Labour Friends of Lunch.

Unintended consequences of scrapping hereditary peerages (from the Earl of Shrewsbury)

I've no doubt she was trying to be funny but she sounds like a fucking madman. www.spectator.co.uk/article/i-wi...

John is a man of vast experience in international affairs and I am but a man with an Adobe subscription but this does seem to me to have a touch of "the Krays were good to their mum" about it.

Well done to Plymouth’s Labour-run council for their plan to plant 2,000 trees this winter. It’s welcome that more are older and taller so we can get benefit faster from them. Let’s have more like this as we seek to tackle the climate and nature crisis. www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymout...

So we've all had the government #RedAlert on our phones then? Frightened the hell out of me!

"The country needs conviction politicians, not politicians with convictions," says Kemi Badenoch, who has previously admitted to hacking and vandalising a Labour MP's website, which was an offence carrying a sentence of up to five years in prison #pmqs

MONTHS AFTER Joe said he would not pardon Hunter, Trump won the election & appointed a man as FBI Director who has spent the last 4 years on every right-wing podcast ranting that he was going to go after Hunter. Obsessed with him. Were you aware of that, critics? Not relevant?

Young women working in the media often have zero power to call out harassment. I can remember being groped on a doc shoot by a contributor and not saying anything in case it scuppered the doc or my job in it. With age comes power & security. I can’t wait to reach “a certain age”.

Maybe because middle class women of a certain age are in a position to call out this shit without fear of losing a salary they need. And can do it on behalf of young women starting out in their careers who are just as sick of this shit but can’t say anything because they need to earn a living.

I'm an atheist who loves carols and this thread is brilliant! Thank you @mrchrisaddison.bsky.social 🎄🔔🎶

If only Louise Haigh had repeatedly kicked her partner… Or been arrested for numerous sexual assault charges Or been found to have frequently bullied her staff Then maybe she’d still be in her position.

Controlling women’s bodies is always vital to the far right exercise of controlling populations.

Kemi Badenoch, "Perhaps he can show concern for the 1,100 people who found out yesterday that they could lose their jobs at Vauxhaul's plant in Luton" #PMQs Keir Starmer, "The EV mandate was introduced by the last government.. She was the Business Secretary that introduced them"

It's almost as though Bluesky is a platform that actually works for the sharing of news content...

Under-appreciated election fact... Number of MPs with majority greater than 10,000: Labour: 115 Lib Dem: 25 Conservative: 5 Green: 2 Plaid: 2

Ian Hislop speaks Truth to Power

Testing - bloody bloody bloody bugger bugger bugger arse arse arse twat twat twat bollocks bollocks bollocks (I've regressed to an 8 year old this morning!)

Hilarious! Judging by the number of arses and twats, the Brits are dominating at the moment but it'll be interesting to see if this changes when north America wakes up later.

Out of curiosity, am reading a bit about the market for farmland. This briefing is from January. "Meanwhile, non-farmer buyers – who are a mix of private and institutional investors and lifestyle buyers – accounted for 56% of sales" rural.struttandparker.com/article/engl...

Optimist: the cup is 1/2 full Pessimist: the cup is 1/2 empty Me: just empty the bloody cup and put it in the dishwasher ffs.

What I'd like to hear from farmers and those supporting them is an alternative proposal. It seems few are willing to defend billionaires buying up farmland to avoid tax but want to protect smaller farms. What's the best way to do that? Seems more useful than a protest.

If you bring central London to a halt in order to campaign against catastrophic climate change then you're a "barmy" eco "fanatic" who deserves to be locked up. If you do the same to hang on to your multimillion pound inheritance tax exemption then you're a brave freedom fighter defying the odds

Pete Buttigieg is a badass.
