Here, broken down into a thread, is a copy of my last post on X. 1. This is my farewell post. I am not deleting this account, as I don’t want to lose the archive, and I don’t want my name taken by imposters. But, for as long as Musk owns the platform, I’ll no longer use it.

Health officials downplayed COVID risk by overemphasizing "underlying health conditions," leading many to drop their guard. Most people have "underlying health conditions." Anyone can be vulnerable. Everyone should take precautions. It's malpractice that they are minimizing bird flu the same way.

Following on from yesterday's summary of the organisation and establishment of @independentsage.bsky.social in our @natprot.bsky.social article, here is the summary of the learning points we took from the process. kityates.substack.com/p/what-did-w...

This does not bode well at all. Thanks to @profstevegriffin.bsky.social for sharing.🧪

As someone who works in the NHS, I wasn’t offered a COVID booster through work. Flu - yes, had that early on. These statistics do not surprise me in the least as the NHS seems to have gone backwards in infection prevention and control for airborne viruses. It’s really sad.

NHS never really recovered from the pandemic - just look at any of the NHS indicators: www.nuffieldtrust.org.uk/qualitywatch... As a nation, we seem intent on a communal forgetting of how bad it was. I'm reposting this thread of testimony on the reality of the NHS during first two waves. Pls watch.

Ollie’s story is heartbreaking 💔 Thank you so much to Jacob Collier for speaking on behalf of him and the thousands like him suffering.

99.8% survival rate would still mean 670,000 dead Americans if everyone were infected. In fact, the actual number is >1.2 million so far, more than all combat deaths in every American war since 1775 combined.

Think back to when the "living with" policy/farce was launched. 1. Mass testing, including free LFDs. 2. Recent vax for many 3. Only the very beginning of omicron diversity 4. Multiple effective monoclonal antibodies 5. Boosters available 6. Recognition (grudgingly) of airborne transmission

Storm after storm the roof kept them dry. So dry that they forgot what it was like to be rained on. But they worried about the roof keeping the sunlight from them. So they decided to dismantle the roof altogether.

Please don't let the growing potential of a bird flu pandemic distract you from the fact that we are still in the covid pandemic. And repeat covid infections increase your risk of long term health problems. Serious ones.

Hello. My interests are politics, environment, climate, public health, corruption in politics, destruction of the environment because of corruption in politics, harm to public health caused by destruction of the environment because of corruption in politics...

From the National #Covid Memorial Wall: “Two hundred and forty five thousand and sixty-nine deaths in the #UK have been officially recorded up to 25th October with covid-19 verified as a cause of death on the death certificates. Men, women+children. Dead from covid. 316 more than 7 days ago.”

So in the badplace(TM) I've been compiling a list of actors, politicians, atheletes and other celebrities who have shared their stories of LongCovid. I've now gathered 88 in total. It's a sobering reminder of why avoiding infection is important, and why we need to work harder for a cure.

‘Micah’s story casts light on how parents, especially mothers, are frequently patronised and dismissed by the medical profession’. This story is from the US, but it’s a global issue. Heartbreaking read 💔 www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

Just for a bit of fun, imagine if, in 2020, instead of hand sanitiser, plexiglass shields and toilet paper, we had bought respirators and air purifiers

Use your brain—read up on the science of how respirators can stop covid damaging the brain—put another way, as they say, "use it or lose it"

It's easier to get used to wearing a respirator then to get used to having Long Covid
