The Associated Press wins reinstatement to White House events after judge rules government can’t bar its journalists, citing the 1st Amendment.

GOP trolls are out in hordes posting on social media- Trying to convince people that they aren’t losing all their money. The market is fine. Wall Street is just “whining.”

Today, the House Ag Committee held a hearing on the Trump Administration’s plans to cut $230 *billion* from SNAP. My Republican colleagues accused us of fear-mongering. Here’s the reality: To pass their insane budget, SNAP benefits would have to be cut. The American people deserve the truth.

Texas is the epicenter of catastrophic dangerous health conditions.

60 Minutes found no criminal record for 75% of the Venezuelan migrants the U.S. sent to a mega-prison in El Salvador. https://cbsn.ws/4lC4Vp5

We often look back on the seminal moments in our history and wonder "What would I have done?" This is our moment. This is our time. We must stand up. We must speak out. We must do everything we can to stop a President who has every intention of destroying our democracy.

Americans seeking retirement or survivor benefits from the Social Security Administration will no longer be able to apply over the phone, starting next week.

Good trouble

Judge’s order to reinstate AP in White House press pool shows the importance of fighting lawless orders. It’s not just the rights of one that are at stake, it’s the rights of all.

Trump is at war with universities. Because well-educated people don’t vote for him.

@elizabeth-warren.bsky.social @markey.senate.gov @schiff.senate.gov Obstruct! Continuously demand quorum calls and object to unanimous consent, to deny Senate Republicans the ability to enact Trump initiatives. Stop all confirmations. Put holds on every Trump nominee.

At an ed tech conference in SanDiego where Education Sec McMahon spoke. Asked about the latest letter re: DEI to schools, she said 'i think discrimination is the bad thing.' Moderator Phyllis Lockett asked if cultural events and other DEI programs like them would still be allowed to exist. McMahon

I'm carving out a new beat here @propublica.org - CIVIL RIGHTS UNDER TRUMP. It's a big and important beat and one I'm thrilled ProPublica has committed to. Here's my first of many stories to come. Advocates, lawyers, teachers and fed workers. Send me your tips! [email protected]

Another underplayed aspect of the imminent falling apart of the US state is that they soon aren't going to able to chase tax revenues.

The Democrats Finally Got There.

About time @wyden.senate.gov I have called you weekly about this. We need bold action. You have it in you. Stand up like we are.

The government argues for power that knows no boundary to seize citizens from streets and exile them without judicial review. History whispers warnings of regimes where such power flourished. Our constitution was written precisely to prevent this darkness, not provide its legal framework.

🚨NEW: Rep. Brittany Pettersen (D-CO) plans to force a House floor vote to allow new moms to proxy vote. This comes after weeks of GOP Speaker Mike Johnson blocking the bipartisan measure. REPOST if you stand with Rep. Pettersen against Speaker Johnson!

Fear has a way of being contagious. But courage is also contagious.

The GOP Tax Scam takes food out of the mouths of children to reward their billionaire donors like Elon Musk. Democrats will strongly oppose this reckless budget. And we can defeat it tomorrow on the House floor if just four Republicans join us.

Remember SignalGate? (One of Trump's superpowers is being involved in so many scandals all the time that very few of them end up having staying power beyond a news cycle or two.)

Reminder: Tariffs aren't paid by other countries. They're eventually paid by us at the check out line. And they're regressive — taking a higher percentage out of the paychecks of working people than out of the wealthy.

Breaking News: The IRS agreed to share information with ICE to help locate people for deportation, court records show. This is a fundamental change in the IRS, which had gained the trust of migrants and encouraged them to file their taxes.

This is what they're doing to Dr. Badar Khan Suri. This is not my America, and the world is aghast.

📖 OUT NOW ‘The Prison Industry’ By @biancatylek.bsky.social and @worthrises.bsky.social, the leaders in “exposing the immoral profiteering by companies feasting at the trough of incarceration” Mapping the corp-govt collusion in profiting off over-policing, mass incarceration and mass surveillance

Federal judge orders Trump to allow The Associated Press back into all events, including in Oval Office & on Air Force One, ( the ridiculous & dangerous idiot banned them for not calling the Gulf of Mexico Gulf of America) www.nytimes.com/live/2025/04...

The next steps are clear. We must ask ourselves — what is even one more tangible thing we can be doing? This will take work, grit, and determination—but this is how change happens. Don't let your inability to do everything undermine your determination to do something in the cause of our country.

2800 people turned out in Youngstown Ohio last night for a town hall with Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Local GOP congressman Michael Rulli won't do events like this with his constituents, so Democrats are doing so in his district: www.youtube.com/watch?v=krWH...

Jeffries may not be as great a public speaker as some, but he sure is standing strong on a lot of quiet things!! I'm looking forward to watching this, assuming Johnson has the balls to do it!! ⭐

This.

This ICE official sounds a lot like General John DeWitt in February 1942 calling for internment of Japanese Americans: “the very fact that no sabotage has taken place to date is a disturbing and confirming indication that such action will be taken.” www.nps.gov/articles/his...

Nothing to look at here

Houston County, Alabama. Population 108,462. 73.5% to 25.7% for Trump over Harris in 2024.

Justice Sotomayor, writing in today's deportation case. How many times must she write, "With fear for our democracy, I dissent," before Republicans get the point? Perhaps only when, as the poem goes, they come for them.

1/Altho SCOTUS stayed a San Francisco judge's order that would have forced the gov't to reinstate probationary employees while the lawsuit was pending, there is another case where a judge ordered probationary workers’ jobs restored by 2 p.m. Eastern today www.newsfromthestates.com/article/judg...

Maine is pulling more than its fair share of the heavy lifting here
