That’s what I was thinking. Based on what I have heard from DOJ lately, it probably won’t be able to pass?
comment in response to post
I don’t think so. It’s going to take a couple of years before they, hopefully, start realizing the reality.

I like it a lot. I especially like the AI assistant with search results. Have no reason to go back to google.

Yeah, that actually might be an overstatement.

Just to add - if Europe REALLY wants to make a difference here, it needs to unite, stop the blind dependence on the US and accept the fact that it just might need to get its hands dirty to secure a happier future.

The Ezra Klein show is very often worth the while. By the way, the podcast is now with video on YouTube!

Could we extend this boycott even further? Like the rest of the world?

I feel that it already has. I feel like it all the time.

It’s working. That’s what media is focusing on now. They’re being played.

Luin yhtÀÀltÀ, ettÀ tÀmÀ Gaza-juttu olisi vain savuverho todelliselle tarinalle, joka koskee mahdollisesti kÀynnissÀ olevaa vallankaappausta. No, voi toki olla ettÀ molemmat tapahtuvat.

A mortal blow? I don’t think so but they certainly need to come up with something.

Well I’m not familiar with the subject of the lostech problem but to me it would sound preferable that the accessible data via a LLM would be regulated by some other actor than a nation state. Also, the model itself should not be rooted in a nation state. That just creates settings of dominance.
comment in response to post
To me that sounds an ethical development but the problem of course is the US law part. That could change. That’s why the AIs need to be regulated and trained to disregard nation states and to control it there needs to be a supranational, transparent entity.

Watch a couple of interviews about Geoffrey Hinton and you’ll change your mind.
comment in response to post
If you believe that the LLMs are not AIs, then you certainly haven’t educated yourself enough regarding this subject.

In an ideal setting there needs to be a transparent, external, non-governmental, non-profit entity that governs the use of any AI so that it will be used for the good of humanity. As long as there isn’t one, I have no trust in these machines.
comment in response to post
That’s my point exactly - do what you want with it. How can we ensure that people do not use it for malign purposes, such as spreading disinformation? These things can be useful but also extremely dangerous if left unregulated.
comment in response to post
I’m wondering if the open source model is a change to better or worse when it comes to regulating the safety of the model, given the advice it can give to customers?
