I read a lot of Laura Kinsale books through the Inner West Library network in Sydney. Libraries are great for romance novels.

Yet another is that Canada does not want to be annexed, and I think that the people who planned this are TRULY flummoxed by that, because I think they imagined Canada would be flattered and shit, like “oh, yes, we want to give up our health care in exchange for a shit sandwich under a dictator!”

You just need to drop into a Sydney school. Ibises have learned how to use those beaks to break into improperly secured lunch boxes - an inch long gap in the zip is enough for them to fish around for goodies. Having your lunch stolen by an a ibis is a rite of passage for every kindergartener.

Worldcon was in China last year. The committee released the Hugos data and it's dodgy - several authors last minute declared ineligible without reason given, and the numbers are really fucky. The Hugos committee is clamming up, and refusing to admit anything is weird.

Bird lice? My grandma's kitchen got infested once, when there were nesting birds right above a window. They were tiny and left welts all over my stomach. You couldn't go into the kitchen for 5 minutes without getting one on you.
