I didn't read that meme as much I heard it in my head.

Oh, they will lower the prices, but just enough to increase sales while touting their lower prices. they'll still be well above what they should be.
The poor will get screwed, the middle class will be milked for all they are worth, and the rich won't notice either way.

Yes, it has come a long way for sure. But just about every year for the last 20 I have been told this same thing, but everytime I try, I am met with a deal breaker or two.
So like I said, Linux just doesn't work for my needs, and that's ok. When my needs change I try it again and go from there.

That's what I am saying, I cannot really think of any "shitty Windows" experience on my machines. But almost every time I've tried to switch, it's ended up in a "shitty Linux experience".
So I prefer Windows, and that's ok, and that you prefer Linux and it works for you is also ok, great even.

2/ Most recently it was scaling and using external monitors on PopOS!
So for me, Linux is just not right for my needs and to use as a daily driver. I will need to stick w/ Windows and MacOS.
Unless you are talking about a server OS, then I am all in on Linux, prefer it over Windows Server any day.

1/ I plan to watch the video later. But I have to say that in my experience Windows and MacOS tend to just work. Everytime I have tried to switch to linux I have run into some game stopper or another (it has varied with time and distro).

My bank sells small batches of printed checks for about a buck each, directly in each branch (I had no idea until I had a random conversation with a teller when getting a cashier's check).
Maybe yours does too and this could save you some money?

Hmm, did Elliot from the Retro Future get you? Blink twice if you're ok.
(Seriously cool prototype!!)

That was a great video, and I am glad I now know the (probable) origins of TH99.
Also, I love the idea of an OEM section on TRW, if for no other reason but an archive of the restore media.

1/ So you're expressing a pet peeve about people who copy and paste AI summaries of "The Force Awakens" (TFA) into forum threads. You think it's better when people just share their own initial thoughts based on the title, like most people do anyway, and that using an AI for a summary is unnecessary.

I work in a school district and I've seen some serious abuse of computer tech, but I can honestly say I've never seen a laptop bent out of shape like that one before.
Looks like an HP Pro Book?

That was a good video, and I chuckled at times in the video as I recall having the exact same pains back in the day with type in programs, though mine mostly came from library books rather than magazines, so print quality was a bit better.
I am impressed that you persevered and got it to work!

Also, on a related note, from what I've seen you post about your own kids, you've done an incredible job of rising above it all and giving them things you never had as a kid. For that, and some other things, you forever have my respect and admiration.

Don't take this the wrong way, I am truly sorry for all the suffering you have endured, and would take it all away in a heart beat if I could, but your story has really made me realize just how lucky I was having the parents that I do, and grateful for them giving me the childhood that I had.

That's awesome! We really need some sort of centralized list of all these diagnosis tools people are creating. I wonder if Shelby's CapsWiki would be a good place for this. Hmm.

If you are able to come out at the start of August for VCF West, you can also do the museum then, since the event is at the Museum. Makes it super convenient to do both.

Apparently you can program it with an Arduino? www.instructables.com/How-to-Progr...
Some web results seem to imply you can program it with a TL866 programmer (but I've no idea wtf I am doing so I could be very wrong).
As for if they'd ship it, for the price, it's not too much of a risk IMO.

Apparently Santana Row in San Jose is a place to go as well (santanarow.com).
Oh, and there is the Tech Museum in San Jose too, it's great for kids and adults alike. (www.thetech.org)

There is a Great America theme park there too, if you are into Roller coasters.
The Triton Art Museum (www.tritonmuseum.org)
Apparently there is a small railroad museum there too, I've not been to it, so no idea how it is.

The 49er museum, if you are into foot ball. www.levisstadium.com/visit-the-mu...
Levi Stadium, I think they do tours when there is no games on.
The Santa Clara Mission is on the Santa Clara University grounds, might be a cool visit to get some CA history info.

Computer History Museum in Mt View is definitely worth it, around a half day would be more than enough time.
There is also the Intel Museum (www.intel.com/content/www/...)
In San Jose, there is the Winchester Mystery House (yep, that Winchester's wife built it, she was a bit crazy)

Rats! Well I'd still hang onto it, perhaps a DSP will come up on Ebay or something. I did find a listing on Ali-baba for $19, but I am not convinced it was legit.

Hmm, maybe I'm just overthinking it then. Although I will say some of the really old IDE drives I have do not work with the USB adapters I have.
