Wow! Resolving spots on the surface of a star 55pc away. (Yes, it’s a large star, but still!)
For comparison, that entire structure is the same size as a single JWST NIRCam pixel (in the long wavelength channel). 😂

“should Yzerman trade pick 16?”
Sure! I don’t think Montreal will notice since they have another first round pick anyway.

Yes! I was so upset when that Starbucks went up there. And totally unnecessary since there was already one at Campbell and Glenn!

Just like Palantir, this name is intentional: "Andúril, Flame of the West." Appropriating childhood references, attaching racist undertones, and creating autonomous AI murder machines.
In case others also didn't catch on at first, the "Don't" is actually part of the marketing campaign.

Yes! The "cgi-bin" links all went away at some point, and iirc were more text-based website that would load faster, especially for large programs on the visit info. For instance www.stsci.edu/cgi-bin/get-... no longer works and was my preferred way of viewing this info. :-(

Gotcha. They also broke some of my early bookmarks which seems to be due to some website reorganizations.

Not sure why the support desk would say such information isn’t public, because all this meta data has certainly been available, including PI info, observing schedules, and even APT files. Perhaps some PIDs are held back until the start of an observing cycle or once the PI gets everything finalized?

Huh, weird. Those are different but very similar to other program pages which have been publicly available since the start of science operations. For instance: www.stsci.edu/jwst/science...
All approved programs can be navigated to from here: www.stsci.edu/jwst/science...

Thanks. I’m aware. This was a joke directly related to the OP’s complaint about astronomy naming conventions. Will remember the /s next time. 🙂

Should have just gone with the Greek equivalents: Hermes, Aphrodite, Ares, Zeus, Kronos, etc. Would have been much less confusing!

Had a first quantile rejection last round on an exciting program that would have spanned multiple science topics. We followed the recommendations of the reviewers, updated some things, tweaked some others. Only to receive a 3rd quantile rejection this cycle. 😭

Have card access to buildings with offices and labs when they are locked. Uses campus ID card along with number code for entry. Limited to specific buildings.

Depends on where you’re at. Cartel coffee if you’re downtown. Yellow Brick is closer to campus. Exo, Decibel, and Presta are also solid.
Tumerico for vegetarian food.

Sounds like a ChatGPT response, honestly. “Your results are good, but here are some statements to rebut something things you didn’t say.”

Or am I misunderstanding what angle they’re referring to?
comment in response to
post
Okay, just found my copy of C&O from 1996. There, it shows the angle as L, latitude. But that cannot be right, because when you are at the equator, L=0. But the angle between the equator and NCP is 90. So the equation must be 90-L.

If you replace L with 90-L, then it becomes 90-(90-L) which equals L?

Don’t live in the area, but if you haven’t yet had time to explore the wine scene, can at least recommend Domaine Drouhin winery and Carlton Winemakers Studio.

Pretty sure Kendrick Lamar solved it.
