The methods end up trying to treat all names as utf8 when copying directories recursively. So if your file names use any other encoding things go boom.

Seriously, my social battery is at 0% now. Going to need a bit to recharge.

Pretty standard GOP SOP.

I really appreciate the extremely fair way you approached writing this :-)

Oh, then it's like installing rust.

The short answer: lots. Too many to reasonably count. We see that in the download statistics. I definitely think there's room for experimentation on where best to place the extended support links. They need to be as visible as possible.

It's not an ad. It's a contracted service offering being provided by an affiliated third party that generates direct revenue to the project in support of the project.

It's a good project for sure. I'm not thrilled about having to add rust into the already complicated V8 build, however. Sigh. Still, it'll be nice to finally have Temporal available

I'm not talking about any of that here.

I love seeing this kind of support from the Foundation and member ecosystem going towards finding new ways to make OSS sustainable. The support that the @openjs.bsky.social provides to the project to keep things running is often unrecognized and underappreciated.

... The project has long maintained that extended LTS was best provided through paid third party efforts. The fact that Herodevs (who also happen to be Gold-level Members of the OpenJS Foundation) are able to provide such support in a way that feeds funds back to the project makes it even better.

The project's current Long term support schedule has always been mostly limited by the fact that all Node.js contributors are volunteers and it's impossible for unpaid volunteers to provide reliable LTS for indefinitely long periods of time...

2. While the support is offered through a third party (Herodevs), the support is structured such that a portion of the funds raised for the extended support feed directly back into supporting the cost of project infrastructure (CI, website, releases, etc). So paying for ext. support helps Node.js

Well, it serves two specific purposes: 1. People/businesses have been asking the project for over a decade to provide a paid-for option for extended LTS support that goes beyond our regular LTS cycle. It's not always possible for businesses to update on our LTS schedule. This provides that option
